My brother is in the market for a graphics card for his PC. He mainly uses his PC for video editing and light gaming, but he would like to get more into PC gaming when he gets the graphics card.

He has a maximum budget of £80 and is looking at the following.

HIS 6570 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-044-HS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=

Sapphire 7750 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-294-SP&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=

PowerColor 6770 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-148-PC&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=

The problem is i know a bit about AMD/ATI graphics cards, but next to nothing about NVidia ones, so any advice you could give would really be appreciated.

Would you be able to let me know which graphics card you think would be best for him before he buys it today?

I think this is the best £80 GPU presently:

This is also available, but according to Anandtech benchmarks the 6850 is better.

+1 to a 6850. It currently a great buy, and worth stretching your budget to.

Does he have a decent PSU with two 6 pin PCI-E power connectors?

If so then lend him a fiver.

Asus HD 6850 DirectCU V2 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £84.99

HD 6850 v HD 7750

HD 6850 v HD 5770 The 5770 is the same as a 6770

His power supply only has one 6 pin connector so he won't be able to use that power supply.

He can, the card comes with some molex->6pin converters so he'll be fine. In fact the card actually works fine with a single 6pin, the 2nd is just to add stability when OC'ing.

As long as it's a decent PSU with 2 free molex connectors he can use a molex to PCI-E adapter for the second connector.

What's the make and model of his PSU?

This is his PSU - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-034-CS&tool=5

If the card comes with an adapter, he will be able to use it with his PSU then.

It's still going to depend on the make and model of the PSU.

If it's some cheap job then it may not be sufficient.

While we're at it we should get an idea of the rest of the systems specs. especially that the motherboard does have a x16 PCI-E slot.
