Anyone miss,,,,,CRT?

I do miss my CRT and always feel reluctant to through it away. A sad fact that they've been pretty much disposed off just for being 'ugly' and tips around the country are full off them, most still working. I wish I could keep a hold of it indefinably.

Nope, not really. I broke mine by punching it in an anger fit over a game, it lost the green channel somehow. Replaced it with a LCD, haven't looked back.

(I've calmed down now :p)

Yes I miss the quality of a CRT; fluidness; old games looking great on them; proper colour banding and seperation; intrinsic handling of multiple resolutions without sacrificing quality.

I don't miss everything else (like weight, size, radiation, eye affect)

I remember a kid like that I used to be friends with.. after seeing him get frustated over nothing and punching the screen repeatedly, I didn't bother staying his friend anymore.... too unstable lol.

No, best part of 5 years of owning a decent sized LCD and I have 0 interest in my old CRT (still in the attic though in case I ever need a sun micro systems 17 inch crt)

Miss my old CRT tv though, that was a 24 inch thing of beauty, till it became sound only

I really loved my old 17" AOC CRT monitor, mainly because of the fact it could run at 1600x1200 resolution, however the hardware I had at the time meant that I could barely run any games that high :p.

Other than that, I love the extra desk space, and can't really imagine trying to get Eyefinity going with 3 CRTs :)

I hated CRT. Images had an annoying flicker to them. Reading the info on a stage 4 turbo on Gran Turismo was enough to give anybody a headache!
On my PC I could never get the image properly square on the screen - It always had some form of curvature! Annoying!
A decent sized CRT was a PITA to move too. A 25 inch tele was pretty much impossible to move on my own!

I have no idea why people hold on to happy thoughts of CRT screens.

The only thing I have to add to this thread is:

My crt is slightly fuzzy and has some minor burn in, but the reason I still use it is that if I was to go for a 24" monitor, trying to get a monitor that has no input lag, no ghosting, perfect viewing angles, no dead pixels, great blacks and good colours is very expensive.

I don't usually keep up too much with monitor tech, but most of it still seems you can get panels with great colours and blacks which are fantastic for movies, or panels for gaming with no ghosting or input lag, but suffers with colours or other stuff. And nearly no monitor has a 0 dead pixel policy, and I just wouldn't want to have to put up spending £400+ on a decent 24" that has dead pixels.

Dead pixels aren't really an issue any more, had many screens and laptops over the years, not one dead pixel.
