Unresponsive buttons: two things. Rather than tapping, try swiping from the bottom up.
I swipe downwards. At first I found them unresponsive, but then I found the technique and all is well. I agree it is a brilliant phone.

cool brilliant phone the xperia s is. shame i cannot find the white one in the shops.
Battery life: firmware version 0.73 is coming, which makes a big difference to battery life. In the meantime, force phone to 2G or 3G network mode.
Unresponsive buttons: two things. Rather than tapping, try swiping from the bottom up. If that doesn't help, the Xperia S is fitted with a screen protector by default. The protector extends over the touch buttons too. People have reported removing the protector helps massively.
USB Flap: Agree. However, gets easier to open after a number of recharges and you develop technique.
Thanks for the tips. Not keen on messing with the screen protector at the mo so i'll try the sweep technique.
I saw talk of unbranding and unlocking a few pages back. What are the advantages of doing this?
Unbranding takes all the bloatware off the phone that operators stick on them and basically puts it back into a generic factory state, with only the apps and stuff installed you would find coming straight from the sony factory.
