*** The official Sony Xperia S thread ***

Battery life: firmware version 0.73 is coming, which makes a big difference to battery life. In the meantime, force phone to 2G or 3G network mode.

Unresponsive buttons: two things. Rather than tapping, try swiping from the bottom up. If that doesn't help, the Xperia S is fitted with a screen protector by default. The protector extends over the touch buttons too. People have reported removing the protector helps massively.

USB Flap: Agree. However, gets easier to open after a number of recharges and you develop technique.

Thanks for the tips. Not keen on messing with the screen protector at the mo so i'll try the sweep technique.

I saw talk of unbranding and unlocking a few pages back. What are the advantages of doing this?

Screen protector on the buttons? That explains everything. Rip it off NOW!!! Removing that thick plastic layer on the Arc made a HUGE different to touch response.

Unbranding takes all the bloatware off the phone that operators stick on them and basically puts it back into a generic factory state, with only the apps and stuff installed you would find coming straight from the sony factory.

The 0.73 is out for some networks (my friend's XS on Orange has notified him of it). You can flash to any firmware including (network) unreleased ones e.g. I have been on 73 for 2/3 weeks already. Derbranding allows you to remove your networks bloatware and update/flash to your desired region firmware (some regions receive firmware updates before others).

I think Nordic firmwares are usually ahead of others.

Having some random reboot issues with mine, had it happen a few times now when uninstalling an app via the launcher app drawer. The screen sort of fades into a weird orange colour, then the phone just reboots.

Anyone else experienced this?

No problems to report here.

What firmware are you running?

6.0.A.3.67

I posted in the Sony forum about it, and doing what he said there, http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/178089.

It's just annoying, and I'm hoping its not a hardware problem but I think it probably is if no one else is getting issues. Overheating maybe? but that would be weird considering the phone isn't really doing much.

Pretty much empty, I only had a few apps installed.

I rang up Sony who said my best bet would be to try and exchange with the retailer, since it is still new. So I rang Carphone Warehouse who said if I take it into a store with the box and delivery note, I can get it exchanged there under the 28 day exchange policy they have. Going to do that today hopefully.

Yuck, the One X has still got that classic HTC post processing then. Over sharpened, over saturated and ott contrast, too unnatural for me :p The Xperia S looks miles better in the daytime.

Xperia S.

Still, HTC are improving all the time and the flash puts Sony's effort to shame.
