I was invited to an interview with an IT recruitment company at a Holiday Inn. I have an email from the company confirming the Holiday Inn as the host and the time and date etc. I parked on the hotel car park and reported to reception first and said I was here for the recruitment event. They pointed me in the right direction. The first thing the guy said to me was did I drive here and went on about the traffic, etc, but didn't say anything about needing to leave my reg number with reception.
I've contacted the Holiday Inn about this and they've essentially stone walled any chance of an appeal by saying it was my own responsibility and I should have quoted a reg number at reception upon arrival.
However, how was I supposed to know? He couldn't clarify the exact wording of the signage outside, but I didn't see anything about quoting a reg number for short visits for meetings/conferences, etc. Surely it's staff procedure to ask if you're driving upon arrival, particularly when an event that they are aware of is being held there?
I think it all boils down to the exact wording of the sign.
Any thoughts ppl?
