Wow..buying a harmony remote is one best things i ever bought

Last week i bought a logitech harmony 900 remote control & Harmony Adapter for PS3 and i can't believe i never bought one these remotes years ago...

At last my days are over of having to pick up the AV remote to switch the AV amp on and then choose the right output
and then pick up the TV remote to switch the TV on then choose the right input
and then pick up the skyHD/DVD recorder/PS3 remotes to switch them on
Plus the same to switch every off

I also love that i can switch on my PS3 and choose what to watch on netflix with the harmony remote..;)

Plus it also comes with a charging cradle so the days of having to find where you left the remote control should be over :D

So far i have my harmony remote setup to control my
Pioneer Plasma TV
Pioneer AV amp
Pioneer DVD recorder
SKYHD
PS3
Logitech Z-5500 PC speakers

And Today am going be trying to setup the Harmony remote to control my HTPC ...

I got my Harmony 700 yesterday and it's great. Was having trouble to asign some functions but that was because i was setting it up for device rather than under activity then selecting the device.

700 looks like a very nice remote it even has the 4 coloured buttons :) (which they left out on the harmony ONE)

Looks like the 650 now replaces the 700 (as logitech no list the 700 anymore on there website)

We have the 300, which is super basic, and even that is amazing.
I been thinking of buying the 300 or a 650 for my parents..

Am off in a minute to my local DIY store to look for a remote control light switch :D
And may also pickup some them remote control plug sockets (But not sure what i use them for yet )

i agree they are brilliant remotes. I have the harmony one, it control everything in my lounge av wise, brilliant piece of kit. takes a while to set it up so it is just right, but when it is done, it works, always, perfectly.

certainly one of my best purchases in the last few years.

I recently bought the 100 amazing remote and the online software is really easy to use. Having the touch screen and fav tv programmes is a nice touch.

Rob fosters do you have an ir receiver connected to your pc?

I've had one for a few years, and I can't say I'm super impressed. yes it's good, but half the time I have to hit the help button to get it to do what it is meant to, frustrating.

Harmony 700 here. As the OP says "great bit of kit". Which Harmony you buy pretty much depends on what features you want. A must have if you have a decent home entertainment system etc. They can do pretty much everything (bar make the tea).

Is the Harmony easy to set-up?

Want a solution to my 7 remotes for:-

- Sony 3D 47" TV
- Sony BD player
- Pioneer surround Amp
- Virgin HD Box
- Naim High End Hifi
- Cable Box
- Naim N-Sub

Regards

Lew

There's somewhere on the Logitech site where you can check compatibility. The setup tools are pretty good. It can require a bit of memory to remember which button does what for each thing, but it's do-able.

I'm still disappointed that the current crop of low - mid range Harmony remotes can control so few devices!

I'm using a 555 which was about £50 and can control up to 15 devices, the similarly priced remotes now can only control 5 devices, which is not enough if you have a vaguely complex system setup!

For example, my 555 controls:

Blu-ray player
Amp
WDHDTV streamer
PC
Cd player
Xbox 360
X10 light controller
TV
Video input selector
PVR

Looks like that deal is over now :(
It maybe worth waiting and seeing what the new Logitech Harmony 800 QWERTY is like ;)

Got a Harmony One, it does seem very good. Not fully set up at the moment as my xbox 360 doesn't have a HDMI port and my TV doesn't appear to have a working discreet code for the Component :/

Probably going to grab a new 4GB Slim 360 and Kinect bundle I think, added benefit of beng able to play some games in 3D.

No number buttons on the main front, not sure about that myself.
