Synchronised and According To Pete look to be 2 fatalities. All in the name of 'sport'.

Makes me sick to be a racing fan sometimes.

Makes me sick to be a human sometimes , have we really got nothing better to do than be racing animals to their death.

I will never understand how it is enjoyable.

Such is certain sports, I would never class horse racing as a sport its just gambling front.

but lets not have any fun, no more motorsport, no more horse racing, no more anything taht involves dangers, lets all sit and watch snooker and have a brew.

Imagine horse racing without betting it would be pointless

I certainly agree with this; however due to the money involved I don't see it changing any time soon.

What?

You can of course have sports that involve danger you loon, the majority of sports carry a risk.

Horses however, don't decide to get in to the cars and take those risks do they? The animals are selectively bred to race, forced to and this is the result.

I'm not some 'animal rights ewarrior' but seriously Cheets, how can you compare a sport where a sports man knows the risk and is willing to take that risk to an animal forced to race?

It wouldn't be pointless, using that logic any sport is pointless. It all achieves very little for real word application.

It's for fun. Everyone involved loves it and the horses are bred to run, therefore love it too.

It also involves lots of training, fitness and skill so it is a sport. :)

I to agree with this, especially the poor horse which clearly didn't want to race, but got whipped, shoved and pushed to go and then when he does he doesn't come out the other side, is that fair?

I Formula 1 driver has a choice to get into the car or not and makes his choices.

wasn't it at the same jump that has claimed lives before? got to be something wrong there

4 horses have died at Beecher's Brook - two in 1989, one last year, and one this year.

Apparently it has a deceptively big drop at the other side which sometimes catches them out.

Actually, Wikipedia is showing that both of them died at Becher's Brook this year, not sure if that's right though.
