Time to get shot of the ageing Almera

Hi,

So, was going to be keeping the Almera even though it feels like i die in side every time I drive it lol but its actually starting to fall apart and fed up getting repairs done, plus I am now finding im taking the kids about more often so something a bit better would be nice.

I need to get myself a replacement, looking to spend at most 5K, travel about 65 miles a day on my commute to work.

Anyone have any recommendations? Ideally nothing too big as although I do take the kids about its still not worth having something like a mondeo.

Why isnt it worth having a Mondeo? They are great value and excellent for longer trips like your commute.

You don't need to have a family to have a car that size.

Dunno, just seemed a bit of a waste of a car for a fairly short drive each day and majority of the time just me in the car.

I don't see how it would be a waste of a car? It'll be reliable, comfy, spacious (which you will need from time to time?) and more economical (most likely). You don't have to spend all of your 5K on one - so it won't be a waste at all. It'll be a waaay nicer place to spend 65 miles a day in compared to your Almera.

Don't see why. My drive to work is 5 miles each way, its just me in the car and I do it in a large saloon, a Mondeo for 65 miles a day seems far more reasonable

To be fair I think a bathtub with wheels would be a nicer place to be than my almera lol.

I've always had small'ish cars so guess I thought something as large as a Mondeo given I was the only one using it the majority of the time would seem a bit of a waste.... guess I was wrong :-)

i guess if I consider something that size then opens up the market a bit more.... What makes the Mondeo a decent option? or say compared to the likes of a Focus? Or is there any other suggestions?
