Your top Playstation 1 games?

This was such an awesome era of gaming, exactly the right feel at the right time.

My top 5-

Resident evil 2
Gran Turismo
silent hill
Tomb raider 2
Metal gear solid


Still buying loads as well to use on my PS3, cheap awesomeness.
 
Just going on what people have put up i'd go for:
Soul Reaver(one of my favourite games of all time)
Resi Evil 1&2
Medievil
Dino Crisis
Syphon Filter
Tenchu
Silent Hill(the first game scared the **** out of me!)
 
FF8 (never played 7)
Gran Turismo 1 & 2
Metal Gear solid

I'm sure there are more, but I had a Saturn through the start of that era.
 
So many great games listed in this thread. Not hard to see why PS1 popularised gaming in the 16-17+ age groups.

A lot of the games listed are not in PSone classics for PS3 though :( I would pay a fiver to play something like Soul Reaver on my PS3 and PSVita/PSP. Missed opportunity. I would even pay for GT1.

All they need is to improve the PS3 emulator (with all it's power they must be able to add a few fancy graphical effects/enhancements) and provide a VITA emulator with the same enhancements.

Some games no-one has mentioned (becuase they are not top 5 material) but were certainly very good games in their own right:

Ape Escape - 1st game to make mandatory use of the dual analogue sticks (dualshock).
Battle Arena Toshinden - very good beat em up (might have been launch title)
Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha - 1st 3d SF game.
Rival Schools - Another good beat em up.
V-Rally - Great racer.

I have what I call the Big Three - a trifecta of games that when put together, singlehandedly defines the platform for basically anyone and everyone.

Spyro trilogy on Playstation was brilliant. Large well designed levels and fun gameplay. Typing this has put me in the mood to fire up ePSXe and play them again!

I never owned a PS1 but it takes me back to the common room days of college, fond memories i have of them too !

Armoured Core :D

Played the demo for hours against my brother, got the full game once but it got lost :(

I hear they're making a new one for PS3! Will keep an eye out for that!
