Hey guys I'm looking to get a semi decent laptop for watching Blu Rays and a bit of gaming on the go and so far I think im going to go for a Dell XPS 17 as it seems a good price for the specs?!

2nd generation Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM processor 2.20ghz - 3.10ghz (Turbo Boost)
8 GIG DDR 3
750 GB Hard Drive 7200RPM
Windows 7 Premium 64BIT
3GB Graphic Card (GeForce GT 555M)
BLURAY

Just wandering what you guys think of this as I'm not too clued up on lappys. Also this will not be my main pc as I have my gaming rig!

Cheers :)

I have one of these with a slightly better CPU. Was playing COD: MW3 for the first time on it this morning at 1920x1080, with every graphical option maxed out. FRAPS reported a pretty steady 50+ FPS.

I really like mine, but it's a bit big for me personally to use "on the go". I bought it purely for home use.

I got mine off the Dell Outlet for a lot less than it would have cost brand new.

I have an XPS 15z its an epic little machine, I have played a good few games on it, gets hot though...

Also it's £799 "Seller Refurbished".

Is the GT 525 better than the 555 in the XPS17?

GT 555M > GT 525M

GT 555M can be upto 30fps faster depending on quality setting and game.

Here is a link to game fps wrt GT 525M and GT 555M, however GT 525M can be overclocked to >GT 550M speeds, my GT 420M ran @ > GT 540M using MSI afterburner.

I have the 144 bit GT 555M in my ASUS N55SF and it is a real trooper :) so the 192 bit in the XPS should fly, close to the GTX 460M with a little overclocking, my GT 555M is within 10% of GTX 460M in some games :)

Hope this helps.

Regards.
