Total War: Shogun 2 - Fall of the Samurai

Main problem I always have is when I start to expand I get rivals landing armys on my older provinces.
All my main forces are away defending or attacking and I just have a few troops defending the old provinces.

Getting my armys back to defend takes a lot of time.

Yes, the AI is very good at this...makes having a good navy with some decent scouting vessels absolutely essential. Sinking a full army stack is very rewarding though :D

anyone else found that using Parrott guns and above makes it far too easy?? Got it on normal difficulty but they reload so fast and are so accurate the enemy gets nowhere near me :)

Is this game worth a pop at £12 then?

I mean are the battles fun and would I get battered within minutes?

Not sure i really need another game.. but this tempts me.

Bought this for £10.99 . ive been playing it over the past couple of weeks and loving it. Enjoying it more than Shogun 2 vanilla. I think that is because the history/campaign is more interesting.

Anyway, one must turn the music of and play 'The Last Samurai' soundtrack in the background whilst playing this. Epic! :D

I still need to give Rise of the Samurai a go and will pick that up when it is on a steam deal.

I would buy it BUT only if you like that genre of warfare and map. I have bought all the DLC and yet it has been a bit of a waste of money for me. I kept buying the DLC hoping that it would invigorate some sort of enthusiasm but it did not work. I suppose I prefer a European type map of conflict.
This is one of the least played TW games that I own and I think that I have bought all of them.
In fact I have just installed the Steam version of RTW so I could then mod it with SPQR and get back to playing that one.
I surprise myself at times as to how often I go back to play RTW, even over either of the MTW games.

Shogun 2 FOTS worth while?

I'm sure there was a game deal thread around here somewhere, but don't remember where it lives.

Steam are having a deal on this weekend with 75% off Total War games. I loved Medieval and Rome, but hated Empire.

Will I like Shogun 2 FOTS? It's £6.24 on deal. Worth it?

Well worth it. I enjoyed it more than the vanilla game.

Especially good if you liked the story to the Last Samurai film :)

Interestingly my Steam says it's downloading Shogun 2 (doesn't mention FOTS) and when I check on either game, it says I have them both already!

Anyone else had that? double checked my order and it was for FOTS.

I think it is seen as DLC for Shogun i think.

Fall of the Samurai is epic, It's hard as hell though, especially if you try and break away from the Imperials and become the Shogunate, the Imperial nations in the campaign are horrific enemies tbh, I'd rather take on 4 Shogun nations at once rather than a single Imperial army of nutcases with cannons and machine guns. :(

I enjoyed medieval 2 but couldnt work out Shogun 2. Managed the tutorial ok but when thrown into the game i just got lost. I think its because i dont really understand the units or history of it. I love the whole Shogun setting though so i was a bit disapoined in myself for not being able to get my head around it.

Thinking of giving Empire a go.
