Have you seen the difference between the minimum and maximum fps, the 2500k gets around double. Anyway's overclock that 2500k to 4.5ghz then re-run that benchmark please.
Im at 4.6ghz but using the Intel turbo boost. I just looked at CPU-Z while running Heaven and my Multiplier does keep dropping back to x16 and stays like it more so then x46.
But the problem is i have disabled speedstep and C1E but my multiplier wont stay at 4.6ghz.![]()
Does it still drop back to x16 with speedstep disabled!?
If you're overclocking with Turbo Boost, then it won't stay at 4.6Ghz because it will only go that high when it needs to - when the turbo boost kicks in.
If you want it to stay at 4.6Ghz [I've had no problem overclocking with speedstep] you need to do a manual overclock that sets the multiplier permanently to x46. What motherboard is it?
Are you sure you haven't accidentally checked the "force V-sync" box?
V-sync would have made his max fps 59.9 or 60fps so it can't be that.
V sync occasionally overshoots on unigine to mid 60s. I get this regularly.
I'm soon to be upgrading from a Phenom 2 955 @ 4.1ghz to a i5 2500k which I hope to hit 4.5ghz on. Hope I see a jump in performance. Looking at anandtech CPU bench some games are as much as 20fps better of using the i5 2500k over the top end Phenom 2 so I should see improvement.
Disable the C states, C3, C6 etc in that final image.
