Paint Pads

Don't agree. I've just had my lounge, kitchen, hallways, and landing done for not much more than a grand. I'm quite fussy when it comes to this kind of thing. The chap i had done came highly recommended and didn't disappoint. Anything i wasn't happy with he correct. It's the first time I've not done it myself and it looks superb. I could have never have done the work in the time scale.. Not without giving up holiday allowance and weekends. These are too precious now..

I wouldn't get anyone in on chance. He would have to come recommended and previous work seen.

That's an extortionate price for a few rooms.

with the cost of getting someone to do it these days I just go to work on on overtime and pay to have it done, it's just not worth it anymore as all the immigrants etc have driven the price right down

This is pretty much what I do... OT pays for a professional job.

Haha that's not a bad price! Some people just don 't have a clue how much these things cost. you can't say a job is too expensive when not only don't you know the condition of the rooms, but also the size of the rooms, woodwork ect ect. In my part of Scotland you'll be lucky to get a painter for less tha£100 a day.

Any one can paint gloss on gloss and run a roller round a room and ceiling that are both white without any preperation, if you want a proper prepared job you'll have to pay for it.

Hall landing and stairs are a right proper pain with the amount of cutting in and woodwork to paint

Best investment a Purdy angled cutting in brush.

Don't wash rollers just clingfilm them or sling them.

90 % preparation 10 % painting

+1 on this.
Cut in with a brush, then roller everything else.
I hardly ever use the same roller twice, either cling film if the job isn't fully fnished or buy a new sleeve for the best effect.
I find cheap ones do the job fine, just get the right texture for the wall you're painting.
Pads are carp on smooth surfaces, i've found they're not too bad on rougher surfaces, but roller is the way to go.

Unless Tommy Walsh convinces you to buy his Paint Pad Pro baby! :D
