First time I've had to travel this early. I am driving from Montpelier (in Bristol) to Bristol Temple Meads.

Would usually take about 10-15minutes but I am wondering if it will take longer at 7am?

Does anyone know? (Who drives in Bristol at this time)

Shouldn't be too bad at that time, the rush usually starts at 7.30. My girlfriend can get from Westbury to Temple Meads in about 25 minutes and she takes Gloucester road.

That being said, why don't you get the Montpelier to Temple Meads train?

I would budget extra time. It gets really packed around Cabot Circus, but you are leaving pretty early so you might miss it.

I drove from clifton to temple meads at 7:40am not long ago on a friday morning and traffic was light. If that's any indicator for where you're driving.

The main thing is that you don't have to commute along Filton Avenue. I lived on that route for a year and it was bottleneck central. Buses were just as bad - a half-hourly service sometimes dropping to hourly service = rammed bus = maximising profit for the operator.

Have you considered walking? depending on whereabout in Montpellier you are going from it may only take about half an hour.

Bristol FTW, oh the joys of living barely 2 miles from Aztec West :D

But then you live near Aztec West :P

I used to work on Aztec West, living in Crofts End and 8:00-9:00 and 16:30-:18:00 were nightmares trying to get in or out.
Ended up working 10:30-19:00 to compensate.

If you haven't got much luggage you might be better off walking, shouldn't take long. I wouldn't expect traffic to be very busy that early though.

Edit - oh yeah, the train! Take that!

actually no as the operator gets fined for missing/non running of services, so even if the bus behind is rammed they still make very little money due to the £5k fine per service missed!
