...and it's going back to T-mobile.

In one weekend of use I had around half a dozen instances of it losing signal in areas where my wildfire gets a strong signal and I also had an issue where I had mobile internet turned on, a strong signal and an incoming call went to voicemail!!

After doing some research it seems it's a software issue, which HTC have apparently released a fix for but TMobile have not released the fix yet (even though other networks did so late last year or early 2012).

And as I'm not into rooting phones etc it's going back, so i'll have to chose another handset.

Shame really as it's a lovely phone. Very fast compared to my 2 year old wildfire and it was free on my price plan. All the other handsets are either too expensive or I'm not interested in them. Sigh.

What are you paying a month? Getting a desire S in 2012 seems a bit strange, dont just take what the operator gives you, im sure if you shop around you can get something better for the ssame price

£21 a month for 600 mins, unlimited internet and unlimited texts (via a free booster). I think Tmob were really pushing HTC a couple of years ago and were giving out really good deals. I'm gonna find it hard to match that or get close to it I reckon!

Looking at the Sensation (but has signal issues) and the GS2 (but no sure I'll like touchwiz, but then I'll install Go Launcher anyway!) Will see if I can get one free, but will have to change price plan I reckon.

If thats for 24 months that you can get something better than a Desire S for sure!

Have a look at the htc ONE s, at mobiles.co.uk they have one that has

500 mins
Unlimited text
Unlimited Data

£27 a month £39.99 upfront

much nicer phone . I dont like 24 months contracts but that seems the norm now

Or look at the Galaxy Nexus here if you can make do with only 300 minutes

http://www.moneysupermarket.com/mobile-phones/brands/samsung/galaxy-nexus/

Also some great deals for the Xperia S http://www.moneysupermarket.com/mobile-phones/brands/sony/xperia-s-black/

i like the look of the Three deal for £27 a month with 500 mins, unlimited data and text and free handset

much better phones

of course these all cost more than £21 but i think these are easily worht the extra £5 a month no doubt. When you come to recycle or sell your phone in 24 months time the above phones will hold value better

Hmmm...food for thought!

Yep, it's a 24 month contract which I don't mind provided I get the right phone, which is down to me!

Think I'll push for a One S, or GS2.

Skip the GS2, not becuase its bad, far from it its just thats its about to get replaced soon. and by the time your contract is 24 months old your phone is basically 3 years old as the GS2 is just over a year old now

Ah OK. Sorry, I'm not really up with the latest mobile phones. As long as it's faster and has a better screen than my Wildfire I'll be happy.

Maybe the One S, or Sensation? I like the look of the Sensation, but not sure about it's signal problems although I will rarely use the phone in landscape which is when the problems seem to occur (by cupping each end of the phone when holding).

Take the One S over the sensation. Don't read too much into signal problems, I test phones and the very very vast majority of people are moronically stupid when it comes to worrying about signal level and seeing a few dBm drop away.

again the sensation is already 12 months old

just look at the likes of the One S and Xperia S

Have you tested the Sensation then?

I would suggest reading through the last dozen or so pages of the one x thread in the forum mate. People posting the deals they have gotten on it and some have managed to keep their £16 a month odd contracts with t-mob so you should be able to push for it or at least the one s without increasing your price plan.

tbh I wouldnt bother with Desire S or sensation, Both are horrible with signal and the loud speaker is rubbish. I would get the One S.
