**The Official Nokia Lumia 800 Thread***

I have a very fine scratch on my screen where I dropped it, tried to catch it, and essentially threw it in the process.

Dropped it loads of times now and it aint broke yet :)

Got the 12070 firmware now, my buttons once again light up when brightness is set to medium (yay!) but auto brightness is still **** and dull all the time (boo). Battery is no different at all. I get a day with medium use which is fine, I've charged my phones overnight for years so I'm happy with that. If I don't use it much I reckon 2 days with low usage would be easy.

Stormster - Try setting the brightness to High and then turn Auto Adjust back on. I'm not sure if I'm just imaganing it, but I think it makes a bit of a difference!

Anyone know why "Speech for phone accessibility" can't be turned on, on a Vodafone Branded Lumia 800?

Useful to have it say the name of the caller especially when you're wearing a bluetooth headset.

Nobody have this problem?

I prefer WP7 over iOS (I may be a Fanboy though!) but the advice above of checking the Marketplace is a must. It's very limited compared to the iOS app store (for now) so please check it has the apps you'd most want.

That's my main gripe, I prefer using it over iOS or Android but when it comes to apps I'd rather be using Android or iOS and the web browser is naff.

I was expecting Microsoft to really push the OS, perhaps they're focusing their efforts on the next version (Apollo or whatever)?

DO you know of Voda are getting the white one?...if its taking a little longer I would deffo go for a white one now.

Got my Lumia 800 yesterday in Cyan from O2 on 24 month @£27/pm. (300+500O2toO2mins/ unlimited txts/ 500mb data)

First impressions are very good. The screen is lovely and crisp, would perhaps have had like a higher resolution but its not the end of the world.

I'm also liking WP7.5, its lovely and sleek. Would love to see a few more apps on the market but I suppose time will tell.

Gave this a go out of interest but still remained incredibly dull/dark for me, doesn't show the screen off well at all on auto brightness for me so I guess medium is a good compromise :)

The white version is gloss smooth, so theirs no texture/ pours to pick up and hold any dirt.

I think I'll go with the white version then! Not sure how much data I'll actually use as the coverage up here is generally poor anyway so I'm going for the o2 £21.50 - 200 mins, unlimited texts and 250mb data + wifi. How exactly does the wifi work? Do o2 have hotspots or something?

edit: although vodafone allow 3 months unlimited data to gauge how much I use and eventually set me on the right limit..

Is it worth getting a protective case for it?

^ I imagine the white/cyan versions getting quite dirty? :(

Nope. I haven't seen one get dirty. I'm sure they would if you try hard enough but in everyday use it should be fine.

Unless your retailer are stingy it should come with one in the box. Nokia provide them with every one they sell, but retailers have been known to take them out the box and sell them separately.

They are pretty hard wearing phones. I only put my case on if I'm going down the gym or out on my bike.

I've had my 800 for a few days, and pretty impressed with the battery life, in comparison to my previous Android phone...
Just wondered, my Mum has an Android and is halfway through her contract, her phone has awful battery life too, so how does the 710 compare to the 800, I'd imagine similar?
I'm tempted to ask the shop if they'll do her a contract extension to get the 710.

I find the battery life on my 710 to be better than on my 800. On average I get about between a day and 2 days on my 800. On my 710 I get between 2 days and 3 days. I do not use my 710 much though.

All of you.

Please can you all check your ease of access menu's and see if you have a toggle next to Speech for phone accessibility.

thanks for that, I think that's confirmed it. Double the battery time than her current Android phone, and the windows OS will be much easier to use.:)
