Hi guys,

I tend to replace my PC every 4-5 years or so and now is the time! I've been reading a lot about the Sandy vs Ivy Bridge debate and I know it's a bad time to be asking this with the release imminent.

I have a budget of around about £1600 as mentioned in the title. I will be playing games in 1900x1200 res along with the possibility of doing some video encoding, but that's a very secondary concern as it will be very infrequent. I also quite like the idea of trying water cooling this time around because the room where my computer sits is a real sun trap and gets very hot on sunny days.

As it's been years since I had to OC my last system, I'm VERY rusty with the hows and whys. For that reason I was going to spare myself the trouble and buy a pre-OCd system. For the kind of spec that I'd like they're very expensive though so I think I'll just take the plunge and re-learn how to do it myself!

Thanks in advance guys :)

I would really wait for Ivybridge with such a healthy budget. You don't need to save money anywhere on a spec with a budget like that.

Ah sorry, forgot to mention. I already have a monitor/mouse/keyboard. So we're just talking the beast itself!

I'd like to upgrade to a SSD in this one, with a larger drive for storage. DVD drive would be handy.

Something like this? Just swap out the 2500k for a 3570k/3770k when Ib is released if you prefer.

Thats a prebuilt watercooled case so simple, unless you fancied doing it yourself from scratch. It's pretty expensive so you could go cheaper and use the money elsewhere in the system.

Wow, that's a hell of a case! I think I'd probably be inclined to go for a DIY case setup and spend the money I save elsewhere as you say. Spec is looking good though :)
