**NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 680 4GB ARRIVING NEXT WEEK - PRE-ORDER NOW!!**

A pair of 4GB Palit GTX 680S are on their way to me at 449quid a piece (no VAT here) :)

Gone for 4GB and SLI as I am running 3 x Dell 3008WFPs - should be interesting. The first time I have gone to Nvidia since GTX 295.

Hi there

Just an update:-

Gigabyte GTX 680 - 100+ in stock!
KFA2 GTX 680 - 100+ in stock!
Gainward GTX 680 - 50 in stock!
Palit Jetstream GTX 680 4GB - 55 in stock!

No ETAs or at least accurate ones right now on other models, but needless to say OcUK has plenty in stock of the above models. :)

i suspect that £20 increase is to lesson the damage of the 10% voucher. Sucks alittle :(

Its because I priced them wrong, my mistake, hence the increase, but those who pre-ordered had their orders honoured. :)

Still the price has gone up by 4%, those with 10% vouchers, make sure you use it. :)

Thats the plan for me! and it seems a good amount of other people too. Ideally you should just email everyone and clean up.

Haha we'd not clean up, we do a lot more business but make far less money, unfortunately computer hardware, especially components can a lot of time be sub 10% margin, so if your giving a 10% voucher, it can mean close to zero profits.

Fortunately products like cables, periphals generally have higher margin levels to balance it out, but every so often there is no harm in doing a crazy deal/promotion. :D

P.S. Good for those who want a graphics card though with the deals and stock we've got on the lineup. :D

i ordered a gtx 680 4gb palit last week , i noticed they are in stock now . how come my card aint been dispached yet ?

Best to give sales a call in the morning to check there is not a problem with your order, as there is plenty spare so you will definetely get one. :)

I should do the same too then, I pre-ordered the KFA2 4GB last week with the Samsung monitors and it's been sitting in the warehouse queue for a long time. I assume it won't be despatched until the release date, or the day before?

Last time something sat in the warehouse q for me whilst in stock it was because the couriers didn't have space in their vans, possibly a similar thing has happened to you guys?

Your order shall be waiting for the KFA2 cards to arrive, if you want the monitors shipping seperately just give sales a call and ask them to backorder your KFA2 card for you. :)

Out of interest, the Palit Jetsteam 4GB review is up for those that need it - link.

9% improvement in 3dMark11 4GB X3341 vs reference 2GB X3063 (take results lightly as other reviews scores differ on similar testbenches, simply an indication). Similar performance (2GB Vs 4GB highest res) with the rest of the usual runs.

Reading on - we know already - games are fine on recent GPUs with plenty of AF, AA. 2GB is no obstacle up to 1200p as Cleeecooo will testify ;). There is NO overclocking or multiscreen tests !! Alternative reviews should be up soon hopefully.

Thanks for the info/linkage early morning reading

edit : unfortunately they left out every game I was interested in seeing benchmarks for on the tweaktown review guess I'll have to wait a little longer to settle my SLI conundrum.

I hope so, that review is sorely lacking.

No BF3, No overclocking, no noticeable mention of what the card is boosting to - which itself could cause the occassional boost in performance seen over the 2GB card.

They even say this in the conclusion:

Straight away we can see the performance improvement on offer from the Palit JetStream GTX 680 4GB when compared to the reference card. The problem is with the way Dynamic Overclocking works is the card performing faster because of the better cooler that Palit are offering, or is the 4GB of GDDR5 helping push FPS further?

Whilst technically true they could have made a little effort to find out for themselves exactly what was causing the performance improvement. The MSI Afterburner overlay tells you exactly what the GPU is boosting to at any given moment. It wouldn't be that much extra effort to do a quick table as to what each card boosted to in each game (heck a couple of games would have been enough). Whilst not 100% scientific it would have least given some insight into how the card boosts when it has "better" cooling and 6/8pin power connectors (thus higher TDP).

All of the games tested seem to be ones with built in benchmarks which may or may not be representative of actual game performance (and in this case VRAM usage). Of course as they don't make a mention of how each benchmark is run it is difficult to compare their results to your own.

No-one really considers dual GPU cards though. It's a very small amount of poeple that it makes sense for when you consider the downclocking, heat and price downside

yes it's now a waiting game, there's not a lot else to post in right now..

the GTX 690 might be more efficient than the 590/ overclock far better, run cooler etc, because Nvidia did say that they were working on this problem.... but this is only a rumour ok ;)

in comparison, the dual card that might still have these problems is the 7990, AMD are far more tight lipped about future cards than Nvidia, all the bull**** seems to come from Nvidia, dont know, maybe it's just their fanboys

"We are working on it for a next version" = We know but don't care. This has no priority at all. :D

It may have better ratios than the 590 did but it's still not going to be a worthwhile card to get. No dual GPU card really is.

The 690 is almost certain to be hotter and more expensive than having two separate 680 cards. Why would you consider it based on these points?

I'd also say based on previous dual GPU releases by both AMD and nVidia it's likely to be downclocked as well. This isn't rumour - it's just common sense based on the history of these models.

oh yea for sure, but dont forget that the 680 is more power efficient than the 580, so it will follow that the 690 will be better than the 590.

will this be enough to offset the other negative points this card has, no i doubt it..... simply because the 690 will look like the 590 and therefore run too hot!

i.e it wont be released with tripple fans will it, it'll be a sealed unit with a silly little fan at one end or in the middle, hay presto it'll run too hot... guaranteed!
