PS3 Slim Turns Itself Off?

Got a bit of a problem with a slim here. Not very old, barely used.

Problem is that it will just randomly switch itself off. It's not overheating. Just switches off. No warning at all. No beeps or anything. Anyone else had the same problem?
 
If it does not lockup, does not beep and does it suddenly my guess would be PSU/power problem or power cable not fully inserted
 
Nope, just turns off...Sometimes it lasts few hours, others times a matter of minutes. Sometimes even as it's booting. Tried reseting it to no avail. Today though the most it'd get past was signing in.

Click, power off...

The click being the hardrive losing power. Just turns off. Tried different kettle plugs and outlets. Could it of been zapped by lightning, no ground on the plug, which i never trust.
 
Yeah, under warranty. Not my PS3, i would have taken it back straight away. Just a shame though. Really wanted to play some Heavy Rain. I think it must have been zapped by some lightning or something. A load of electronics have gone funny here, 2 bose systems, linksys router...all frazzled...
 
I had the same with my my old slim, it did what you mentioned a few times then wouldn't power on at all. It just died, rang up Sony they picked it up and replaced with a refurb two days later.

Hmm Ihad a ps3 slim that stopped working altogether like that, get on the phone to sony and request a replacement. Just take the hd out and keep it they chuck the ps3 at their end and won't check if the hd is missing.

Did you have to pay for a replacement ?

Also, was the replacement an refurb ?

mine would suddenly just turned off. needed me to pull the plug out and back in for it to boot again.

my slim was 18months old at the time. i called sony to see what my options were and they replaced it the very next day.
