My old setup was 2x Samsung P2350 monitors connected via DVI cables to my Sapphire 5850 with my large TV in the other room using the HDMI port for movies, etc.

About to upgrade to the HIS 7950 Fan 3GB GDDR5 PCI-E DVI/HDMI/2xMini DP and found that whole range only has one DVI & HDMI but now with display ports.

My question is if I keep my TV on the HDMI cable could I use the single DVI + Display port cable (if one around) for my two monitors?

Thank you

This would work, but the adapter is pretty bulky and may obstruct other ports on the graphics card.

Instead this adapter connected directly to one of the monitor (along with a standard HDMI cable) or a DVI to HDMI cable would probably be better options.

However, if you are trying to connect three displays:

1 x DVI monitor
1 x DVI monitor
1x HDMI TV

to a graphics card with the following connections:

1 x DVI
1 x HDMI
2 x mini-Displayport

Then your best bet is to connect one of the monitors and the TV to native ports on the graphics card. Then as you said initially, use the active mini-DP to DVI adapter you linked to - for connecting up the second DVI monitor.
