Turning old gold in to new jewellery

A few years back my mum turned a load of her old gold in to three bangles, I've been given one which is too small for my wrist.

It weighs over 100g and I want to turn it in to something that I can wear but are there any limitations on this? By that I mean would it have to be a solid bracelet or are there places that would make this in to a link one or can I get this made in to a ring?

Anyone got experience with this or can direct me to a place which can help would be greatly appreciated.

9 mate, I was going to have all 3 and turn it in to one mega piece but my mum mentioned because the others are much higher ( 18 and 24 iir ) it wouldn't work.

sell it for scrap ( well over a grand ) and buy yourself something you want

Was going to say, it's worth quite a lot. Not sure about where you'd go about getting it remade though.

You know what you have a point with that, it was more sentimental value than anything, things like wedding rings etc are in the bracelet so while that would be a good idea I'd prefer to keep it I think, just not really sure what my options are... I think what you guys mentioned would possibly be the best bet.

most jewellers will know of who does this.

in nottingham i know a few who will do it.

basically you just say what you want do a sketch and sort out between yourself.

depends on your area tbh.

I have recently commissioned a jeweler in Bristol to take my wife's rings and redesign them into one piece with some additional material added. The design and production cost about £400. As long as they have the base material they can do anything.

If you do decide to sell it, visit a jewellers rather than a cash 4 gold shop, you'll get a lot more for your money. And for goodness sake don't post it
