**AMAZING VTX3D 7970 X EDITION DEAL - £359.99 Inc. VAT!!**

Gibbo, is it a reference board underneath that non-reference cooler?

What's wrong with an fps limiter? Ultimately gives you the same thing, no?

I dont think it is the same thing.

Adaptive vsync doesnt just cap fps, I think it stops the fps fluctuations when vsync is enabled, making vsync smother....

I get a lot of tearing on my monitor, which means I use vsync for nearly every game, making adaptive vsync a very appealing technology for me.

The only issue I am having presently is I am hearing that Nvidia crads suffer from reduced IQ compared to AMD cards?

Gibbo.

Can you tell me the length of this card? It doesn't look reference but VTX3D don't have any figures on their site.

Thanks.

Dammit, I can't help my self :( saw the price and ordered one. That's £1000+ gone since last night on a wim, oh well should last a few years.

you shoulda got two mate  go for 140 fps

Don't tempt me :p

Out of interest without being able to remind myself due to work internet restrictions, what is the power consumption like on these? Coming from a power hungry overclocked GTX480. Just wondered if this is likely to be any more efficient?

i cant get a fixed answer it varies too much, try this below

Radeon HD 7950 - On your average system the card requires you to have a 500~550 Watt power supply unit.
Radeon HD 7950 Crossfire x2 - On your average system the cards require you to have a 700 Watt power supply unit as minimum.

the 7970 is more powerful than the above, so try 600W total and with OC, i think the 300W i saw was for no overclocking

cheapest gtx 680 is 424.99 (OC UK price)
cheapest 7970 is 359.99 (OC UK price) this week, otherwise normal 369.99

thats a still a considerable difference....i just hope this means consumers wil start buying out the 7970's and force nvidia's hand.

If nvidia don't drop their prices I will be very dissappointed....

sorry, the 140FPS is not for BF3, that's only about 70, this was for Metro, it's about 265fps for FAR CRY 2

Worth going to this from a 6950 @ 6970 Flash?? (1920x1200)

i5 2500k @ 4.4ghz..

Also have my 10% code!

From what I read it's the same thing that was used originally in Rage, and has subsequently been used in a few games like ME3 where I get perfect smooth fps and no tearing. I could be wrong on that though. Basically an fps limiter. Have you tried the one in Afterburner? It works like a charm in BF3.

NVIDIA still outselling AMD massively!

Why?
