So I purchased TOR a while back, just going to get back into it again so needed to reinstall but my original disc 1 is screwed as has a big crack in it... I bought retail as didn't want Origin on my system.

I think EA will supply me a new one if I send it back to them along with £7.50, I don't know anyone locally who I can borrow the first disc off and I can't think of another way of installing without putting Origin on my machine.

What are my options guys?

you should already have an origin account with the email you used for swtor (might use the same passport as swtor website) if not make one with the same email and swtor will be on there.

If it allows you to register Origin, stop being daft and install Origin.

You might want to let EA peek at EVERY single program and file you have on your Hard drive, then transmit that information back to EA, who then SELL that information to any tom, dick or harry that waves 10p in EA's general direction.

Ok, so you might want to do that, but on the other hand, most sensible people don't like EA doing this, and so will refuse to have anything to do with Origin whatsoever.

Exactly, I don't have any dodgy stuff on my pc but EA have no right to go rifling through my stuff, the message is if you don't like it don't use it so that's what I'm doing. Only way is to vote with your wallet hence the reason I don't play BF3 which I would love to.

They just don't though do they... It looks at every day information that windows freely offers to any program that wants it. It just doesn't "peek at EVERY single program and file you have on your Hard drive".

Who cares? How an earth does it affect you If they re-sell your details. You sound like a **** with what you just said.

Slightly off topic now but it does amaze me how little people seem to care about their privacy, strange.

Love the pic tho :)

I have SWTOR but don't have origin, Just go to the SWTOR website and download the game client, easy,

And to everyone asking, Origin does track your IP address and scans every single thing installed on your PC and then sends the information back to EA for them to be able to sell on, it's in their terms and conditions, you know that thing that you skip past before you click accept

Origin T&C said:

What like Windows? OMG.

Even if you buy it on Origin, it never actually uses it for anything. All downloading/running/updating is done via the games own launcher.

Oh ffs.

My IP address! NOOOO. Wait... might they not need that to be able to send my machine stuff....? Is it some super secret thing that must be kept private at all cost! I suggest unplugging your computer from the internet then... If you visit my website, it'll track your ip. Heck... if you've looked at my signature it's in the logs.

As for installed software and usage. It is a trivial, trivial thing to collect. What's installed? The registry will tell you what's installed, and as for application usage.

Noes! Effectively six lines of code to tell me exactly what that machine is running.

and scans every single thing installed

Really? Can you back that up, Please find the part in their terms and conditions that allows them to be as intrusive as Origin, Also windows has a reason to scan all those files, Origin has absolutely no reason to be scanning my hard drives

NOWHERE. Not anywhere in the EULA does it say that it scans every single thing on your hard drives. It is not looking through files and folders to find things, opening up your documents to see if you've got anything hidden in them.

Firstly it would be a retarded way to work to find anything. Secondly, all it's doing is going to the registry and finding simple information that windows offers freely to any application. It's not doing some covert hacking shizzle to find out what flavour crisps you like based on your music tastes.

The worst of it is it's simplly tin foil bs, circulated by people that have no idea what they're talking about.
