Need to invest in a sat nav and cant decide what to go for.

I almost settled on a Garmin Nuvi 50, then I saw the Navman Tourer Life, which comes with free map updates forever and also has traffic updates without buying more equipment. I currently have built-in vauxhall sat nav (CD70) which has a link to traffic master.

I like the look of the Garmin software and not really seen much of the Navman.

Do people have these models / what experiences have people had with them / recommendations / warnings?

The overriding factor will be the best software, but I want as much functionality as possible without going over the £100 price tag. I wont be using it outside the UK.

Thanks.

Trying to avoid TomTom. I used to have one, they are decent, but I think they are just overpriced "because they can".

Anyone had the Garmin?

Stay away from navman, their support if something goes wrong is useless, they pretty much just fob you off, iv got an older model and have lost my reinstall disk, they won't help me pretty much unbrick my nav

Do you have a smart phone?
If so - I use Google navigation it's very good
If not, then TomTom or Navigon?

I use google nav a lot on my HTC Sensation and it's fine for local or motorway journeys but when you go to a big city with complicated junctions its useless, just doesn't update quick enough and doesn't give clear enough instructions. When there is 5 different directions you can go in and the line goes over 3 of them its a massive ballache.
