Ivy Bridge Launch Schedule Leaked

Ivybridge going to be nightmare exspecially those on air cooler (temp rocket to 90C!) remind me of old i7 920 C0!

I guess you didnt bother reading the last few posts related to the newest benchmark?

The chip was something like 14c cooler than the 2xxx series, it maybe the first benches were just of a dodgy chip or maybe the newest bench isn't reliable. Either way lets not jump to conclusions until we have some more details....

I cannot believe how on earth ivybridge 22nm ran hotter than 32nm ? Even thought ivy got lowest vcore than sandy but sandy still much cooling than ivy. Intel is no future for overclocking now.

You obviously have no understanding of the principles of transistors/other small electronics... shrink it down PACK MORE of them in less space due to there being more means more heat generally... I think your comments are actually quite uneducated. and as for Intel is no future for overclocking now... that statement is well god awful... makes no sense to begin with and your basing it all upon if the Ivy Bridge is running 80c temps... ridiculous.

Or wait for Haswell :p

There's the rub, though. There is always a new, shiny processor waiting in the background that would be good to hang on for but that means we all stay with our ageing tech longer. I am somewhat inclined to wait for Haswell which will make my current build 6 when it comes out but in 2013 part of me will be saying wait for Broadwell (or whatever it is called) in 2014 ....

I'm going to see the reaction to Ivy and maybe jump once the launch is over and we see how well it performs in the real world.

Broadwell is going to be what IB is to SB for Haswell :P so if you get to Haswell release time and your like should I wait for broadwell? there wouldn't really be much point :)

Good point, Ollie. Mind I have hopes that Ivy won't be like the Prescott - a nuclear power plant in a chip! That's why I am hanging back to see how it performs.

Yeah Im patiently waiting... won't be making my build until June anyway which means that IB would have been thoroughly tested and Ill see some proper results from it for heat, voltage, and OC potential :)

When is ivy come out ? Can ivy cpu can put into 1155 z68 board ? As my board now updated support 22nm ivybridge with the latest BIOS F10 version, not sure if it will fit on mine ?

i dont think ivy is backwards compatible with z68 boards. Ivy = z77, sandy = z68 and z77 (limited features) as far as I know

Edit: some z68 boards will get ivy support

All z68 motherboards are Ivy compatible with BIOS updates... Z68 LGA1155 socket Z77 LGA1155 socket. Though as to what companies update their BIOS for Ivy support thats a different matter.

Are there any reliable guesses for how much the i5 3570k will cost? I have a pretty good budget, but it's not flexible at all and I really need the CPU to cost no more than £200.
