hi all

whilst trying to push more out of my e6600 2.40ghz ive noticed on cpus and asus's ai suit thats it only doing 334mhz x 6 = 2004 fsb 2.00ghz ( i think thats correct) when it stock as stated above 2.40 :S, ive noticed it randomly changes from 6 x to 9x but only for few seconds,

im trying to get it to stay at 9 x 334mhz = 3006fsb 3.0ghz ( again if i got this right)

any one help please

You need to go into bios and disable intel speedstep, (found in cpu configuration), but tbh, it can be left enabled. It works as a power saving feature for when your pc is doing low cpu use tasks.

Why do you want to disable speed step? when your PC needs the extra power it will run at x9 multi, when it doesn't it will run at x6 saving power and generate less heat.

What does CPU-Z show on the FSB and multiplier when fully stressed with Prime or Intel Burn Test.

this is where im getting confused

CPU Arch : 1 CPU - 2 Cores - 2 Threads
CPU PSN : Intel Core2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz
CPU EXT : MMX, SSE (1, 2, 3, 3S), EM64T, VT-x
CPUID : 6.F.6 / Extended : 6.F
CPU Cache : L1 : 2 x 32 / 2 x 32 KB - L2 : 4096 KB
Core : Conroe (65 nm) / Stepping : B2
Freq : 1800.11 MHz (300.02 * 6)

cant get it to stress long enough i get 2 second window where the multiplyer goes to x 9 and it running at 3ghz or there abouts
