the video output usually connects to the first card in a xfire/sli setup... i have it connected to the second card its the only way this game will work :(

You get no output from the top card just in BF3?

Connected to card 1 = 20fps, unbelievable lag

Connected to card 2 = 45 fps, playable :)

It only does this in this game so I doubt there's a problem with the cards and I've tried every driver for the past 2 years :/ so yeah wi connecting the hdmi cable to the bottom card effect gaming?

Maybe the problem. Just use the latest stable release with the corresponding CAP

You sure that's the cause of the problem? If I had any YouTube/flash video open in Chrome while playing BF3, I'd get ridiculous lag and my frames would be between 24-28 FPS. Once I closed those windows the game would run at the normal 40-50 FPS.
I experienced this while using a single 5770, dual 5770's, a single 5850 and dual 5850's.

The weird thing is it runs better with crossfire off with a single card! Its really annoying as apparently the drivers and latest cap should have fixed this. I'm using d
river 12.3

When I did the test the exact same applications were open the only difference being the connected output of the card

You using the CF bridges on your card? Have you got any other really taxing games you could test out like Skyrim or Metro 2033?
If the problem really is related to BF3 alone, reinstalling that might do.

Yeah I am :) and I don't unfortunately :( the only other games i really play is crysis and bad company 2 both of which run fine

Had a watch of the video, doesn't look good :(.
Can you confirm the following configurations:
2 Cards + CF Enabled + HDMI in Card 1 = Bad?
2 Cards + CF Disabled + HDMI in Card 1 = Good?
2 Cards + CF Enabled + HDMI in Card 2 = Good?
1 Card + N/A + HDMI in Card 1 = ?
Think that last one is the most important as it'll let us know if anything dodgy's going on with your first PCI-E slot. If that last test comes out 'good' as well, then I'm out of ideas and would advise you sell up and get a new card :p.

BTW, by 'good', I mean like the first half of your video.
