Only the 40 against Wigan in the preseason. He looked great then, but he will definately be rusty when he comes back and he certainly won't be match fit.

He has been able to run and train (minus the contact) for a couple of months now so I don't think fitness will be a huge concern.

Not a bad weekend (from my perspective anyway :))

What's people's thoughts on Richard Lewis moving on? Personally, I think he's done a good job overall - not perfect, think Crusaders/Bulls etc. I'm a bit concerned that the 'Yorkshire Mafia' will take this as an opportunity to regroup around the M62 and cut back on some of the expansion work that's been done. I'm also worried that they will appoint Wood as a full time replacement.

Catalans at home, nice easy fixture to ease us into the next round!

No telling what might happen really but I guess the smart money would be on a Catalan victory. We shall see though. There aren't any good games on tv worth watching this week, not too evenly matched.

The Fev-Cas TV game should be an absolute cracker. Post Office Road can be <ahem> 'intimidating' for a normal league game, God knows what it will be like for a CC game against the local rivals. You'll probably need to wear a gum shield to watch it on TV.

Wigan have NW Crusaders. Hardly the most inspiring game and its going to be hard to talk myself into going down to the DW for that one. The ideal day would have been the same team away - Wrexham has been one of my favourite away days for the past 2 years.

What a game against St's! A great finish. We really, really need to sort the defence but Widnes could have won that.

Ground was empty, was it because of TV or was it because we really don't think our coach is good enough?

What an amazing game! Brutal ain't the word! Really rough game, plenty of digs, plenty of shoving about. I said at half time that I wouldn't like to be a Castleford player in this game, but at full time I changed that to the ref! Thaler did a cracking job reffing that, he wasn't even afraid to get stuck into the fray and split apart some of the players (twice!!). New found respect for him now, I certainly wouldn't get between them!

You forgot the third factor, hard times! I know Rovers are expecting a poor crowd, maybe 4000 but thats it! Think its a sign of the times, RL ain't a cheap ticket anymore and given the large unemployment in East Yorkshire (and elsewhere) more and more people are adopting the "I'll just give it a miss this week" attitude. Which is fine, I've cut down this year on going to so many games, perhaps only been to 4 in total, but it isn't doing much good for RL club owners.

I certainly don't think it should be that you think your coach isn't good enough. I think that would be a bit harsh.

Nah mate, after the Bradford game last week the fans had had enough. We don't mind getting beat as long as there's passion. He just seems to not be able to get the players going and the defence is shocking.

Today showed some great progress but we've seen that before too. We need points!

I wouldn't have cheered Fev on on Saturday if I knew that we had to go there next :)

It will be a nightmare to get tickets.

Heh, if we had gone through we would have had Sheffield at home...woo....its not like we had a massive income from the away fans from Catalan anyway.

Chase gets a 3 match ban for that shoulder to Ropati's jaw against Featherstone. On reflection, it really was a bad challenge, with malicious intent in my eyes. Deserved ban.

Wanted: Decent coach
Start date: As soon as possible
Experience required: Coaching of an over 8's team. Must bring own sack to throw previous coach into.

It was always going to be a difficult season for you guys, but I didn't think it would be as bad as you have been. I don't think even Rovers did as badly as that since we came into the SL for the first year, gauranteed survival with a 42-6 win against FC at the KC stadium! What a day.

Then again Catalan had a shocking season a couple of years ago and look at them now! We finished 4th a few seasons ago and look at us now!

Leeds were good tonight, much improved compared to that performance against Saints, but Catalan didn't seem to offer much, which was disappointing from a neutrals point of view.

You just can't judge Catalan - they're either very, very good or rubbish with no in between. If they can get a bit of consistency, they'll take some stopping though.

Denis Betts didn't light any fires when he was coach of Wigan. He was so bad, he was replaced by Ian Nil-ward. They say that you can only work with what you have, but Widnes do have some decent players. They look like they fold when the game starts going away from them. Its his job to make sure that they turn in a home v Wigan performance every week

Simple win for Rovers today, job done. Didn't really seem to get out of 3rd gear, and they didn't have to.

Green, Dobson and Galea were frankly brilliant today. I've been waiting all season to see them playing together and they were fantastic.

Got a week off now given the exit from the Cup, after which time, we should have Joel Clinton, Ryan O'Hara (for his debut first team appearance) and Jake Webster back for the Wigan away game. Very much looking forwards to that game as it could be our strongest first team fielded so far this season, but in saying that Tony, I really am laying all my cards on table, so if its a terrible performance against Wigan, then I'll be VERY disappointed.

Yup! Looking forwards to that but on another side-note I forgot to tape the Aus v NZ game :(

Magic Weekend is nearly upon us again, anyone going for the weekend?

Never been to it, don't enjoy going to rugby games anymore, when i was a kid/teenager was always going.
