Hi guys,

Well my 680 came today which is sweet.

However after running 3dmark 11 with the latest 301.10 drivers I get a score of 6950. This seems pretty low!

My cpu is only an i3-2100, so my guess is that is bottlenecking it. Its at stock as apparently you cannot even OC these chips (?!).

Your thoughts? I have ordered an i5-2500k anyway as I was not impressed with the cpu.

System is:

Asus P8H67-M Pro
i3-2100
8gb Corsair 1333mhz ddr ram
Gainward gtx680
Corsair TX750M Power supply

Thanks fellas.

I would assume the CPU is the problem.

Try Unheaven as that is designed to use as little CPU process as possible.

And yeah you need a 2500k or better if your buying a £360+ graphics card. :P (only Q6600 fanboys think differently :D )

What was the graphics score?
I assume the physics score (CPU) adds to the overall score. With that i3 it'll be quite low so will affect the end result right?

10K is the norm for 3Dmark11 for a 680

I would hint at your CPU being a bottleneck but I know little about the I3.

Guys are so helpful on here-thanks.

Graphics card score was 9400ish, physics/cpu was like 3000....

Downloading heaven now :) will post back scores.

P.S. I3 was just a stopgap for the timebeing, only 2 cores but didnt think it would affect things this much!

Your graphics score for 3dmark11 was fine, so it's definitely a cpu bottleneck, a big one.

Like others have said, that i3 is a major bottleneck, it doesn't have the power to process the information it's receiving from the PCIe lane. Even in Heaven which is not really CPU intensive, an i3 will still hold back by dramatically reducing the minimum fps.

It is the CPU, it adds massively to the overall score.

When I had a 480 SOC I got a score of P6670 of which Graphics was 6147 and Physics was 12060 (CPU & GPU all at stock)

Can I not overclock a i5 on my motherboard?

Technically you can but only very slightly.
If I remember correctly it is the memory that can't be overclocked at all so you run into limits as soon as you try?
I think the multiplier is locked too?

If I'm wrong someone will correct me.
