What historical evidence is there that there was a real man called Jesus who lived and preached in 0AD, from a source that doesn't use the Bible as a historical source (rofl)?

Apparently, even Dawkins believes there was a real man called Jesus on whom the gospel is based. I'm finding it hard to find the actual evidence for it however.

Personally, I'd lean more toward it being a pure symbolic myth.

What kind of evidence do you want? Anything from 2000 years ago is going to be questionable, you're not going to get any proof.

Of course there is historical evidence of my Mexican friend called Jesus.
The one thing about Jesus is that it's a nice thing to hear about how much he loves you in Church but a horrible thing to hear in a Mexican prison.

Factually, there is not direct evidence he ever existed. The only linking evidence, are cultures that were around at the same time, referencing a leader of a group of people (christianity) mentioning a messiah. He's never mentioned by name except in the bible.

Ah, I just thought of some evidence, Jesus sandals.

If he hasn't been here, then why would he leave his sandals behind?

That is actually really good. Never seen any that are quite as detailed as that without being complete fakes. Bet that will never attract thousands to see it like some of the other "image of jesus".

Simply, the New Testament, which, as far as records go has not really changed in 2000 years, talks about a man named Jesus.

I don't think for many the fact a man named Jesus existed is questionable, but whether or not he was the son of God. Without the resurrection, and evidence to support, Christianity can hold little or no water
