Not sure on the best components to go for so thought i would throw it out to you guys, i have a case and a PSU and this build will definitely have a gtx 680 in it, i'm just not sure on the mobo / mem / CPU

motherboard: i think the asus genus i think it is? for 1155 socket is the best bet

mem: no idea at all on this - i want 32gb in this machine though it will be running av editing etc.

CPU: again was waiting for IVY but it doesnt look like its going to live up to the hype so maybe a sandy i7?

What budget do you have??

Stulid beat me to it again as that would have been my suggestion without knowing his budget.

seems odd that on the newer tech (ivy) theres less opportunity for 32gb - coming from a 920 so was hoping for a big upgrade but that processor looks plenty powerful.

Its aimed at a different sector (gaming and light video editing usage etc) so it has less DIMM slots, less SATA ports etc than a CPU/board designed for the more "extreme" user.

fair enough - so down the line could just swap out the CPU, before i buy definitely the best combo to go for? no slight upgrade on mobo or mem worth the money?

Swap the CPU with a BIOS update, and I cant think of anything else to get, the board includes a free aftermarket cooler also, bargain.

sounds sweet, one last question if you would know is this will all be going in a ft02 case, will this be cool enough for all this big boy gear?

The motherboard is ATX form factor, the GTX680 isnt very long, the FT02 has a 165mm CPU cooler limit.

The Thermaltake Frio Advanced Cooler is 159/160mm tall.

It all fits.

okay, temps will be fine im sure and it all fits - definitely nothing anyone would recommend changing for a extra quid? i notice ocuk use gskill memory a lot in their builds / bundles - is that preferable over the kingston?
