Hi all,

I'm planning to book my honeymoon in the next month (for April 2013), and I am looking for experience / recommendations of travel operators / agents.

We're going to Orlando / Disney/ Universal etc holiday if that helps.

I'm not sure what the best route for us to go is:

I've found places that look good for our budget on Expedia, but should I go for other places like Sta / Trailfinders.

I've had a look through the Virgin Holidays website and it all looks rather pricey versus what Expedia comes back with.

Thanks,

Dave

Why do you need a travel agent?

Just book a car online, same with the hotels and flights.

It will save you a bit of money and you are not limited by the hotels the agent has to offer.

I will look in to booking it all separately. Would it be safer to have an ATOL protected holiday?

we've used trailfinders in the past and had some very good holidays, its worth giving them a call and they'll build you a itinerary that you can view online - you then don't have to book with them if you don't want or if you chat with them they'll shift things around to suit your needs.

edit - i've also booked loads directly and there's not much between the two options (if anything) cost wise

Last 2 times (just happend this way) used thomas cook. Have nothing but good things to say about them.. Only short haul though.

Last long haul though booked it all seperate.

Our honeymoon was driving across the US on Route 66. We booked it with Virgin, and they took care of EVERYTHING. Very good experience too, though some hotels were average, most were great.

I always use Kuoni and can't fault them from past experience. Can be considered to be a little expensive though.

Return flights to Florida a week or two ago for under 200! @ Thomson Holidays
If you can wait / flexiable something might pop up next year :)

If you want car hire, send me a trust.

I work in the IT department of a carhire broker and i can set you up a quote with a very good rate - inc packages etc - and I will throw a F&F discount on top too :)

I booked my Maldives honeymoon with hayes and jarvis.

When the volcano exploded they were very good at getting us home - I think we were on the first flight back after the airspace opened up again. They are part of the Tui group (Thomson is most common name IIRC)

We booked out custom made America trip via Kuoni in Meadowhall and they have been outstanding, even down to suggesting hotel that are not listed in their brochures and booking those for us.

Always seemed willing to go the extra mile for us and were not content just to sell us a package deal which is what Virgin and TUI tried to do.

Cannot recommend them highly enough, if you have a local store go in an see them.
