There were 35000 pedestrians and the average person lives for around 30,000 days therefore on average one person will die on the day they fall through that pavement (assuming an average demographic).

Unfortunately statistical analysis is useless here because it's Chinese pavements - not just an issue of quality but also an issue of what runs underneath the pavements. It was a sinkhole here, but in Beijing earlier this month back it was a hot water pipe - poor girl in that case suffered from very bad extreme scalding. For those that have been, it's not unusual to see them in a poor state of repair, even in the main areas - you have to be careful where you walk!

Ive done some traveling mainly in the east.... And China is a scary place! Sounds daft but it really is another world!

Not even central india/nepal etc and the like felt as alien as Beijing!
 
lol the guy's name is wrong way or wrang way... she certainly went the wrang way....
