GTX680 Low 3dmark 11 score (6950)

Hmm. A mobo upgrade is in the works anyway so its not too much of an issue (migrating to an 800D case from a mATX case hence why I have a mATX mobo) but that strikes me as quite odd. Lets hope the stock i5 2500 will be a fair bit better than the i3!
 
I have been doing some work recently which involved analysing CPU use in 3Dmark11 and most of the time it sits at about 9% utilisation on the test 3930K (Hex core) but in the final two tests this shoots up to 91% so its the last two tests that will get absolutly destroyed if you only have an i3

Your score breakdown looks fine. the 680 is performing as it should but the CPU is causing the lower score and will do in games as well.
 
i5 2500k @4.5ghz now which equals a score of #2009 in Heaven and 9050 in 3dMark 11.

So from an i3 to i5 there is over a 2000points difference. Shocking!

Just posting this hoping it may help a (re)newbie like me.

Glad you are happy and now those scores are 'as should be'

With an OC on the card, you will see an improvement even still. Thanks for letting us know how it worked out.
