I'm just looking at my options for graphics cards and wondered if someone could measure their card for me to tell me how long it actually is inside the case. I have a tad over 270mm from the base plate were the card exits the case to the harddrive rail in my case. I've seen some standard cooler 7950s state 263mm but I'm unsure if that includes the screw tab as well.

Also am I right in thinking the 7850/70 are the same size?

Hope that makes sense.

Thats excellent thanks. Looks like my options are limited to Sapphire, Asus or XFX. Kind of wanted to avoid the first two down to the graphics card warranty thread. Don't have a choice now.

Well, not so quick... I was just looking at those numbers closer and something is all messed up there...

This HIS, ASUS, and PowerColor are all three reference cards/coolers so would all be the same size...

but according to that chart they are different. Clearly AnandTech didn't bother to lay a tape measure on one.. Which dimension may be correct is anyones guess....sheesh

Was there a particular model you were more intersted in?

To my knowledge all of the current cards are using the reference PCB with thier own cooler. So in looking at a picture of the card, so long as the cooler doesn't hang off of the back of the PCB any further than the reference cooler the length should be the same...

Thanks again for your help. That looks a perfect size and the OcUK HD 7950 looks like to the one to go for then.

I have no preference really. I was looking at the Ivy Bridge results earlier and came up with the idea rather than spending extra on an Ivy Bridge I could go cheaper and get a 2500k and the extra money put towards a 7950 rather than 7850/70 and IB. If the 3570k turns out to be £160-170 (which I doubt) then I would still get that.

I didnt really think about the size of the cooler until looking at cards, I would probably still have this issue with the lower cards to i guess.

You couldn't measure it could you just so i know a correct size. My case had a 3870x2 in it so I have no comparison to newer cards.

Powercolour with the reference cooler.

I was just heading out when I saw this thread, I'll measure it tomorrow for you.

The popular US retailer say its just shy of 10.5 inches long from exhaust/ports to the other end

Edit miss read the post, the reference powercolour 7950 is 10.5inches

Yeah there are a lot of figures out there some cards vary by over 2cm depending whos quoting the size. I want someone with one to give me the correct size for that version.
