UEFA Champions League/Europa League 24/25/26 April *** Spoilers ***

Yes. Guardiola has bought to many players for the sake of it. Barca last season with Villa and Pedro was a better more fluid attacking unit than what he's introduced this season with Fabregas and Sanchez. Fair enough strengthen the squad with these players but dont break up a winning side to accommodate them.

so barca are favourites.

chelsea beat them and you still think they shouldnt be favourites for the trophy?

hmm

Chelsea won't have a team left for the final and they are poorer than both other teams left (IMO) so I wouldn't see them as favourites.

Great performance tonight though.

well well well. That was what my gut feeling was saying all day long that chelsea will win. i told my chelsea mate at work that i have a feeling they will win!

On to the game. Referee got most decisons correct and was gutted to see fabregas cheat and dive. GLAD Messi missed that. they did not deserve that penalty.

Terry, what a fool,. he gets away with that **** week in week out in the league and im glad he got done for it. Just a shame Chelsea still went through so it masks his stupidness. Had Chelsea lost, the press/media/fans will all leech on that idiot.

Barcelona were **** tonight. They continued to try and pass the ball to the net with absolutely no plan B whatsoever. this is why many feel that if this barca side was playing in the Premier league, they will have a lot of similar games like this.

If you think Chelsea were defensive/physical, Stoke are far worse then that! Which leads me to another. Why hasnt messi scored past chelsea?

Can messi do his thing week in week out against a far physical/defensive english side?

And last thing, Pepe. No plan B. is he really a great manager within the same bracket has wenger and fergie who both punch above their weight in there respected clubs(united should not mount a challenge for the league with that squad and arsenal should be a mid table team with that squad.)

Is the fact that Pepe has not signed a new contract having a similar negetive impact on the players just like Spurs with Harry being prime suspect for england job?

Thing that really irked me is, no one in or after the first leg, or during the second leg had the balls to say "Messi is **** tonight". He was awful, he was sitting deep making no runs at the defence, giving the ball away too much and his finishing was way off.

Barca were ****, Chelsea played it well playing SO deep, its hella risky but Barca have been guilty for several games now of just sitting on the defence, not running at the defence. THere were maybe 3-4 real attacks where 1-2 players were running at the CB's, the cb's were moving to cover and people had space to pass, same in the first leg, same against Real.

This wasn't hugely down to Real or Chelsea, its Barca not really playing a striker, and not really moving. When Tello/Cuenca(sp?)/Alves/whoever had the ball on the wings either the box was empty, or 1 or two players were standing completely still and no one from outside the box was running in ready to attack a cross, not once tonight did they attack the box for a cross.

Chelsea, outstanding really, they did defend well and they did make it incredibly difficult, Ramires's finish was golden and the pass from Lampard perfect. Drogba did very well on multiple occasions to hold the ball, win a corner, do a couple players and just keep possession even for a few seconds here and there. Torres, still thought he'd screw it up, though again Valdes did very badly, he rushed out, he half went down, Torres had so much time to move the ball around him, didn't have to get close very close to him.

Barca didn't deserve to win tonight because their attack was a joke. Sanchez went down against Mikel like he'd been shot, and though probably a yellow for being cynical there wasn't much in it, and how he then rolled 4-5 times, utter cheat.

I still think something is odd with the sending off, the "replay" was so retardedly limited in scope, it definitely looked an utterly ridiculous reckless criminal red for Terry. But I'd still like to see a replay from 10 seconds before and from a couple angles. I wouldn't be surprised if it looks a lot less bad from other angles and I wouldn't be surprised if Sanchez did something to him first or, I dunno, replays "against" Barca in Spain are few and far between. They'll show a Messi shot which he misses over, and over, and over, and any fouls on him over and over and over while missing the actual game. But a Barca foul and we never see a replay.

Barcas only tactic seemed to be faff about with it outside the box for 5 passes then try dribble into the box round 5 players!

Not that different to how Arsenal play;)...mind you Arsenal dont have Messi in their squad but i was pretty shocked at how badly he played tonight...gave the ball away far too many times and was rendered useless most of the time...credit to the epic defending by Chelsea...9 men behind the ball, get 2 lucky breaks and score. Something Barca couldnt do tonight.

As much as i love Barca, i just cant help laughing at how they screwed themselves tonight. Some really bad defending for Chelsea's 2 goals but meh it was written in the stars.

Looking forward to a Chelsea/Bayern/Real final...hopefully Bayern will take Real out then take Chelsea out in the final.

That's an amazing 45mins considering Chelsea had a makeshift defense and a man less, that match will be talked about for years to come legendary!!

On one hand, considering Chelsea's league form, the fact they managed to get through this tie is remarkable, but I'm sure everyone will agree this Barca team is worse at both ends of the pitch than the seemingly unstoppable (and barely changing) side that Inter's players managed to beat over two legs. They played practically the whole game at the Nou with 10 men and IIRC they had to defend in truly epic fashion. Chelsea just kept their shape and didn't have to pull of that many last ditch tackles or stunning interceptions.

Also you need a bit of luck to get this far in the CL. Barca had it against Chelsea the last time they played them, this time Chelsea had a bit of fortune with Messi bottling the penalty. If he'd scored that would have been it.

Because I'll die a little inside if I see Ronaldo lift the trophy with another club :(

I'm not sure what I'll want to happen if it's a Chelsea - Real final. I can't stand Mourinho or Pepe (I'm not too keen on Ronaldo either) but I love Bob and Xabi. It would be funny for Spurs/Newcastle to finish 4th and end up missing out on the CL because Chelsea win it but I don't want to see Chelsea win, however it would be funny for them to win and Terry to miss out
