1 x Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM £167.99
1 x Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £134.99
1 x Crucial RealSSD M4 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (CT128M4SSD2) £116.99
1 x Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX) £44.99

Rise your budget a bit then your rig will last more than 2 years. Basically if you wanna be cheap then go to argos and get a gaming rig. They will sort you out there.

Here's a couple of options for you:

Or, if you opt for an i3 CPU instead [which is still good for gaming] you can get a better graphics card:

or an AMD 6950 for the same price here.

Do you have a 64bit OS for the 8GB of RAM?
Some comparisons for you:

i3 vs i5
6950 vs 560Ti 448
6950 vs 6850

Hope that helps! Couple of things to note:
There are a few cases at that price range if you'd prefer a difference one, such as the Bitfenix Merc or CoolerMaster Elite 430

Also Ivy Bridge [Intel's new CPUs] are out soon, so it might be worth waiting for that if you wanted to.

will the ivy bridge go with my motherboardd?

Another option

Slightly bigger Psu if you decide to go xfire, at a later date.
Mobo to handle xfire.
You can also upgrade Cpu( 2500k or Ivy) at a later date or when you can afford to.

DVD drive? ;) You're having a bad week fella :(

Z68 mobo loses the lucid MVP (+ FPS when gaming) you get on the Z77 and it's not a massive saving. Plus there is a faster LG DVD drive (x24) for the same price.

Think the OP has a good idea what he can get for his cash now though (I havent bothered spec'ing as beej does similar specs to me anyway). He might as well wait for IB to be fair, if he could save a lil more cash even £50 can make the world of difference

No worries.....I would have gone down this road myself

If the OPs monitor is 1680x1050 the 460 would have an easier life and it would be possible to run another (192bit) 460 later in SLI. Obviously the 7850 is a better GPU and has more VRAM which makes for an excellent single card GPU. Although the 460s do OC well and SLI'd are better than a 6970 or 7850 but obviously draw more juice from the PSU (550W will cover 2 460s though)

Case is more expensive but has 4 fans, digital temp display and fan controller. You can get 4ghz out of the i5K on the stock heatsink, the cheaper cases don't have as many fans.....hence why i use the Z9 so often in builds :)

I've heard good things about this case, and this graphics card is overclocked out the box, so it's a good choice.

I'd prefer to use the Seagate hard drive above, not least as it's cheaper, but I've not included it as its out of stock unfortunately!
