do you love Kindle?

Everyone I meet tells me I should buy a Kindle. Seriously. The binmen. The ticket collector on the train. The dentist. Buy a Kindle. Buy a Kindle. Buy a Kindle.

I have the Kindle Wi-fi, the one with the little rocker pad, as opposed to the keyboard. It was reasonably priced and I'm happy with it.

At nighttime, I have a little 1-AAA battery powered light that I attach to my cover. Works like a charm. It's an ITP A3 EOS flashlight. I love flashlights lol. A built in light would have been better, but oh well.

If your partner wants to browse the internet on it, then for sure touch screen would be a super nice gift. Cleaning up a pile of cow dung would be more rewarding than trying to browse the internet with my Kindle rockerpad. Inadvisable haha.

In terms of compatible formats, have a look into a software program called Calibre. Free to use, it's a handy dandy tool for dealing with incompatible formats of books you may come across. Battery life is exceptional; casual reading every other night and I'm maybe charging it every 3-4 weeks, if that. The cool thing is changing font size to suit your needs, so when your eyes get tired you can adjust. And yes, no problem reading the screen outside on your patio in bright sunlight.

The pricing of kindle ebooks is insane. In some cases they're even more expensive than the actual book. It's utter maddness for a digital copy.

ebooks are liable for VAT. Also, it's not true, some are more expensive, some are far cheaper. Swings and roundabouts.

E.g. I just bought Hunger Games on my Kindle, it's £2.70 for the ebook, and £3.86 for the physical copy.

There is also a massive amount of ebooks that are cheaper then the physical copy? What's your point?

One of the best things about Kindle (if you're a very fast reader) is that you can buy a book, read the whole thing, then return it for a refund. :)

I'm not sure how long you get before the option to refund disappears from the 'Manage my Kindle' part of the account. But I've been able to beat it on 11 out of the last 14 or 15 books I've bought. :)

Good work. Thanks to you, the terms and conditions will soon be changed so that people who genuinely need a refund get boned.

Quite often, the ones that are more expensive have the prices set by the publisher. As opposed to the paper versions being bought from the publisher by amazon and then sold on by amazon.

ebooks also have vat and books don't I believe?

Is this likely to be permanent? As that is quite a turn off, was thinking of getting a kindle or similar when I get home and would mainly get new release books but if they are more expensive than hard copies I'm not too sure.

We've already covered the fact that something they are and sometimes they're not. Whether or not they're subject to VAT is not the sole determinant.
