Hi guys,

Im building a high quality, high performance HTPC.
I have built everything so far.
Although it wont require a lot of power, I want the modular choice as its going in a small HTPC case, so that would help keep things tidy.

I saw the fanless option of the Seasonic X-400, which looks nice.
But im a little worried about it getting too hot, or heating up the rest of the case.
As it will be in a HTPC case, in a shelf without that much airflow.
I know I wont be anywhere close to the full 400w.

So what do you guys think?! Im after something that is as quiet as possible.
So the Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 420w
Or the Fanless Seasonic X-400

I think im leaning towards the Cooler Master, as its newer, and has a fan that can kick in when it needs it.

I have the coolermaster 600 model, Wouldnt look back. Cannot hear it over rest of my system at all. Ive even unplugged all my fans to try hear it and nothing.

Power output wise it gets some great reviews!
Highly recommend you to it

The Cooler Master is cheaper.
The Seasonic is more expensive.

And with that deal on, the difference is greater.

As it's cheaper and you're worried about heat, I'd get the CM. The fan is unlikely to come on much with such a low power system, and the difference in efficiency isn't worth the extra cost

Im not that worried about heat. It was just a thought.
The Bronze loses more power so will need to be cooled more.
As the Seasonic is Gold it doesnt lose that much, so passive heating is fine.

Aww damn you :)
I have the AX850 in my desktop and its lush!
The fan often doesn't come on, unless im playing something.

Thats a good call.
It will just be A LOT of wasted power
