HTC to stop producing QWERTY phones?

Does no one remember the days when peoples fingers would move lighting fast on their non qwerty phones, and they would text people without even looking at the screens? It is so much more difficult now.

I rarely look at the screen when I'm typing. I'm almost as quick with it now as I am with my proper PC Keyboard.

E72 had a great keyboard.

But this is the way it has been heading for the last 3 years, it's not surprising or shocking that HTC have abandoned the physical keyboard.

In the age of touchscreens, physical keyboards are fail imo. You can type just as well (if not better!) on a touchscreen, than on a tiny physical keyboard.

This is just simply not true. I challenge anyone to beat me on a touchscreen vs my BB9900.

plus, you can't touch type on an onscreen keyboard. Also when browsing the web and entering text at all, it's useless having the keyboard taking up the entire screen.

I am hoping they bring a Blackberry 10 device with a slide out keyboard.

I can with my iPhone. Three and a half years in and you soon learn where the 'key's are.

Just being aware of the qwerty layout in your head is half the battle.

Indeed, once you are used to the layout of your onscreen keyboard and the way you are holding the phone, your fingers just end up in the right places and the auto correction usually nails the odd mistake.

Ultimately I've never met anyone who has wanted to be able to touch type (or type at a ridiculous speed) on a phone. :p

I know my requirements are specific, I don't deny that ahaha. I just like to be able to text whilst walking without having to stare at the screen...

They will, Blackberry i mean...from what im hearing the first BB10 phones will be touchscreen then we will probably see the hardware keyboard BB10 phones which will probably include the slideout keyboard version. Just wish they would hurry up and get it out but i dont expect to see a BB10 phone out till end of this yr or early next yr.

One big thing that i like about having a hardware keyboard is the feel of the keys under my fingers, with touchscreen phones you dont have that 'feel'. Although my One X has a slight vibrate on the keys, it still doesnt feel right imho...the iphone4?? nothing of that sort so thats why i keep my texts on the iphone and One X very short and simple and leave the long texts/emails etc for my BB.

I have an S2 but would still prefer a phone with a slide out QWERTY keyboard. I had the HTC TyTn II and that was great for typing.

I'm absolutely terrible with typing on the touchscreen. I can't type quickly on it, and even if I take my time I will still make mistakes by hitting the adjacent keys, as I can't feel where my fingers are on the keyboard.

I avoid using the touchscreen keyboard in landscape because it takes up the whole screen and I can't see what I'm doing. This is another advantage of a physical keyboard.

I still wouldn't swap my Desire Z for any touchscreen phone on the market. My sausage fingers aren't designed for touchscreens.

I love my Milestone simply because of the QWERTY. But there's no more decent upcoming slide out QWERTY phones for Europe anymore :(

Best thing about having a slide out QWERTY:

(left, right, up down) - I'm currently using the directional pad to scroll around my texts and emails

I never have to access a symbol menu or anything. I can see it all on my keyboard.

Yes, I'm asian. And yes I text my gf loads when we're both at work.

Also, I can still type on the screen for those quick one handed swype messages! The best of both worlds.

Chuck this paper thin screen on top of the hardware of HTC One X or Samsung Galaxy S3 with the slide out keyboard of a Droid 4 and battery life of a MAXX and I will pay easily 600+ quid for it in a heartbeat.
