PSN blog about it

Haven't seen anyone talking about this on here so thought I'd see if anyone else had bought this?
It's available on XBLA (tomorrow), PSN (now) and Steam (Now).

It's made by Telltale games who did the Back to the Future game.

I just got it @ £15.99 on PSN which is for the whole season - 5 in all, 1 each month which seems like a good deal (£20 on Steam!) considering how enjoyable it is.

There is a lot of talking in the game so it's definitely not for action junkies but anyone looking for a good old fashioned point and clicky (and some QTE's :( )Zombie adventure (and are fans of the comic book / show) then this is definitely the game for you.

Geez I sound like I work for them :p

It really is good though, I started playing it last night at around 10pm and the next time I looked at the clock it was almost 2am!

I can't be bothered to do an official thread with pics and all that jazz (was up till 2am damn it!) but wanted to let people know about it as it has been released a little under the radar.

What is the actualy gameplay then? Action adventure? point and click? (I could google but I think the whole point of this thread is for you to answer questions ;))

Being a walking dead fan im tempted to get this. (The whole season)

It has elements of both. You walk around with the left stick and the right stick controls a four way action reticule (each one controlled by a button i.e the top one is triangle or Y on xbox) which actions come up on when you put it over something interesting (or something shining - you can set it to highlight the important stuff or not so you have to find them yourself)
There's lots of dialogue with timed choices for answers which can be a bit tricky as you might have to lie to some people and they catch you out - which happened to me pretty quickly when Hershell caught me bang to rights in a lie hahah it was funny.
There are also some QTE's a'la Heavy Rain which can be annoying but not too bad.

PSN has a demo available which you have to download anyway as when you buy it it's just an unlock for the demo. I'm not sure if 360 will do the same but I can't see why they wouldn't.

First 4 mins

I've no doubt that if you're a fan of The Walking Dead then you'll enjoy the game. The graphics are stylised like a comic which fits it really well.

Thanks for clearing that up for me! I am an xbox man so will check the market place tonight.

Failing that I can DL the Demo on the PS3 and see if i like it enough to buy on the xbox.

First I've heard about it, but looks quite interesting from the links in this thread :)

Plus I'm always a sucker for cell-shaded graphics lol

I've seen a few articles about it now, all of them very positive. I'll definitely chck out the first episode. I'll probably pass on the 'all-episode pass' in case I don't like it (and also I don't think it actually offers any sort of discount)!

You actually save £3.96 with the pass as it's 5 episodes @ £3.99 each and the pass is £15.99.

Not a huge saving but still, a penny saved and all that :D

so no season pass on 360?, well done MS, will get it for the Playstation then..

GB quick look is up now, so minor spoilers

Giantbomb had a podcast dedicated to it. I think it was about an hour long, with one of the writers and one of the developers. Pretty interesting.

Given the choice I'd suggest reading the comics first. Just because they're amazing and there's so many now you'll be reading for quite a while.
Amazon do a good trade paperback of issues 1 to 48 - although it's £30 (worth every penny though - wife got me it a couple of birthdays ago) but you can get smaller trades with less issues in them.

Saying that though, the show is really very good but it does change quite a bit from the original story (what show doesn't these days though?)

Oh and thanks for the podcast heads up, Von - just downloaded that.

I have never read the comics or seen the tv show but i really enjoyed the first episode of the game, the graphics look pretty funky to say the least. Also looks like an easy platinum for those who are suckers for psn trophies.

Well considering they are completely different types of games, and the cost of this game versus the cost of the extremely glitchy Dead Island(Collision detection was horrible)

I can see how this is gaining momentum. It's broken sword, In 3D, with Zombies. And it costs nearly nothing!
