Pirates of the Caribbean 5

I enjoyed 1,2 and 3 .. but i wasn't really a fan of the 4th i thought it was just average so i hope the new one is more like the first 3.

A series of films, based on a film that didnt justify or require a sequel.

Just like the matrix.

I really enjoyed the first Pirates, as has been said the sequels, they were just a complete mess, over long, not a great deal happens in them, not funny.

That sword fight in the wheel in the second one, thats when I started to fall asleep, and lost all interest in them entirely.

Then again, the 4th was directly based on the Tim Powers book "On Stranger Tides", which is partially to blame for it's awfulness.

If it had been based on that book it would have been a far better film. What they actually borrowed from the book was the title, Blackbeard, and the idea of the Fountain of Youth. Of which, only one was actually original. Powers had the good sense to take the money, and then put as much distance as possible between himself and the result.

Seeing as the 4th one is the only movie that's made me leave the cinema halfway though I couldn't give one.

The HMS Endeaver (Captained by Cutler Beckett) eventually sailing between the Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman (and thus being blasted to ****) was one of the greatest movie scenes I've ever witnessed.

And a complete pile of BS...

That Endeaver would have been able to destroy both those ships without too many problems...!

I liked the fourth one. It did help that Bloom and Knightly (Keira) weren't in it. I like them but they are terrible actors...

The first was amazing, but let's be honest, it was a film inspired by a theme park ride, so it's frankly nothing short of a miracle that it worked at all. Everything beyond the first has been rubbish, and I don't even care any more.

Lol?

I don't know how you can possibly arrive at that conclusion given that;

A: The Black Pearl is supposedly legendary.
B: The Flying Dutchman is literally supernatural.
C: When the Endeavour was attacked Cutler Beckett believed the Dutchman was under his command. So when it turned against him it took him completely by surprise.

Plus on top of that they had the strategic advantage.

Pfft, I'm going to buck the trend and say I loved all of them. Good, honest, disengage-brain-and-enjoy movies.

I agree the 4th was terrible though. Extremely poor perfomances by Ian McShane and Penelope Cruz. And not enough of the original cast.

Cruz was the best thing about the 4th film ;)

First was very good
Second was alright
Third was a bit of a mess
Forth was just a bit meh, nothing massively wrong but just felt like they'd well and truly run out of ideas

(all imo of course)

My least favorite one was the third one, the most recent one was not so bad. But the first two were the best.
I agree with this.

The third was poor IMO - just went to a whole new level lof cheese and looniness, culminating in the most ridiculous final battle.

I felt they got back on track a bit with the fourth, but first is still the best.

I enjoy them, 12&3(kinda) were good, 4th was OK but needed 1 or 2 more of the original cast, even if it were cameo appearances. I'll certainly look forward to seeing 2 more, I think Johnny Depp is a great actor and does comedy pretty well in these types of films.

^(one post up). LOL! :D

Yeah I thought 1 > 2 > 4 >> 3. ;)

3 starts off well, and I know it's meant to be fiction with fantasy elements and stuff that generally doesn't make sense. But 3 just degenerates to pure nonsense by the end of it.
