Official Avengers Tread ere

saw tonight, very good film, laughed at all the moments mentioned above, as did the rest of the cinema. :)

mid-credit thing looks interesting.

Watched it last night in 2D (which is the best way IMO) and it was excellent.

A good comic book action blockbuster, some really fun bits and some great action scenes.
The Hulk stole the show though!

She doesn't have a 'power'.....?

Watched it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Didn't expect it to be so funny.

In the comics I believe she has been "sooped up".
She had a similar procedure to what Captain America had.
She is an expert fighter.

Thoroughly enjoyed it, the Hulk really did steal the show.
The bit where he picks Loki up and leaves him quivering nearly had me in tears.

Saw it last night. Good rather than great but good nonetheless. Comments about the humour are largely on the money. I still left ever so slightly underwhelmed though. A 7/10 for me but I had dared to hope for a 9.

The imbalance of the characters I actually wanted to see on screen and the ones who got screen time was slightly jarring though. I found that in character terms:

Good
- Hulk: The big triumph of the movie. Got most of the best physical moments. His 'meeting' with Loki late on was the standout moment of the film for me. "I will not be bullied...."
- Thor: Hemsworth has plenty of charisma and the whole thing kicked up a gear when he and Loki were on screen together
- Stark: The schtick is getting a touch old but Downey Jr can do this sort of thing in his sleep and he still gets the best lines

Ok
- Loki: Bit surprised at that one as I like Hiddleston. Did alright but could have done with a bit more backup in the baddy department. Felt like a petulent teenager at times and a bit stagey at others
- Cap: By far the least interesting of the heroes with actual super powers. A bit of sympathy for Chris Evans there as the character is rather one dimensional and they gave Stark the selfless hero plot moment that Cap would normally take

Meh
- Hawkeye: Not enough time to give him any real character beyond being a guy who can shoot a bow accurately. Couldn't help but wonder what he was doing there most of the time
- Black Widow: The looks nice but another character who I couldnt help but feel the movie would not have suffered from her not being there
- Fury and Shield: I suppose they are an essential part of the lore but I would have happily seen them get far less time on screen in exchange for more for the core heroes

Still very good. Perhaps by the sequel they will have been able to swap out Hawkeye for Spidey or another hero.

Was that Thanos at the end?

That seems to be the general consensus. Shame he didnt show up earlier frankly but they probably felt they didnt have time.

@ Musty Pie: What are you confused about? It seems a fairly cut and dried statement to me but I am happy to elaborate if needed. There have been many different members of The Avengers over the years and Spidey has been one many times. I appreciate there are Studio conflicts with that property but you never know.

I just feel that spidey would have no place in an avengers movie. Sure he has teamed up with them in the past but for me it just would not be viable to add such another big hero into the mix.

I think they have the balance just right with the Hero's. What they really need is some better villains.

What they really need is some better villains.

Thanos who will be in the next movie, is powerful.
Also, they could use Ultron, who is a super advanced robot.

From the word go, I was always thinking that Loki just isn't strong enough to handle Hulk, Thor and Iron Man, all at the same time. Thanos will be tougher, though.

There are a few different ways they could go but I'd agree they need to have a baddie next time who can physically go toe to toe with the team. Thanos would work. Dr Doom would work. There are a few others as well. Ultron might be a bit Stark specific but would also be interesting. I'd quite like to see them do the Sentry storyline but I doubt it. He was supposed to be the only being in the universe as strong as Hulk.

Absolutely loved it. Put all the other Marvel films to shame.

Didn't realise Hulk was.. well, completely indestructible!

Hehehe.

Yes. Many people don't realise but Hulk is a near unbeatable foe.
In theory, Hulk could destroy every single Alien ship by himself (given enough time). And the angrier he gets, the stronger he gets. What this means is that if there is an opposing force greater than the Hulk's strength, it will be only a matter of time until Hulk is stronger than the opposing force...and the Hulk Smash - destroys.

The Avengers are almost unbeatable.

I see. Probably the best cinema watched film in 5 years for me!
In 2010, I worked with Tom Hiddleston for 6 months or so. Such a top guy, genuinely nice, so glad his career is picking up nicely!

Surround the Hulk with kittens and puppies?
