barclaycard paytag

I've heard of a scam where people walk around in a crowded area (Such as Victoria Station) and bump into people. At the same time, they're holding onto a device and brush it against your leg pocket (Against your wallet), hoping to nick £15 each time :p

Have you ever used contactless payments? You have to hold it on the machine for a good 2-3 seconds. Hell it's quicker to just pay using your PIN imo.

I called Barclays earlier and told them I don't want it, there is no way I'm sticking anything to my phone.

You do realise you can stick it anywhere, it doesn't have to be your phone?

Yea but where? My wallet? It would probably peel off and no where takes it anyway.

I use contactless payments quite regularly and find it extremely fast. Most times I just slap my debit card onto the display and it beeps immediately! It's definitely faster than using PIN - In a couple of years time it'll be much more popular and much more supported. Contactless payment pin machines aren't out in force enough for it to become totally mainstream just yet :(

Has anyone every used an octopus card in Hong Kong? Similar in principle but you just top up the card and it works very well.

Or T-Money in Korea, brilliant systems.

Can use it for anything from Taxis and Subways to mcdonalds and starbucks or even cigs.

I've still got 50,000 Won on one in my wallet great for getting a pack of smokes, a drink and the train into Seoul from Incheon next time i go back.

That and getting the money back off it is a linguistical nightmare.

Where's the security. It's up to £15.00 or as stated going up to £20.00 but what happens if someone else finds/steals these tags? Lets say it's used over a week, works out £105.00 for 7 days and you report it. Would you get your money back and how would people be captured for doing it.

This is going to be open to a lot of fraud.

I only notice after I've paid. I've got a contactless card but never used it.

Wait, you don't need to enter a pin as well with this?

It's only for transactions under £10 iirc so if there is fraud the bank can refund your account without the damage outweighing their profit from the overall use of the system.
