Running a 6950 atm -
debating about switching to nvidia

Im wondering for those that have use or do use both.

- are the drivers better with nividia? less gpu error recoveries or issues? (been getting them lately and I dont know why - although less with the 11.12 drivers as compared to the 12 series). Ya new install of windows etc ...
- How the ocing software? and software in general - used to trixx and the CCC and fidn them easy enough; want to be able to use different monitors or tvs easily and oc easily.
- what about the picture and quality; I want diablo 3 to look pretty; which system will do that more? nividia or amd?

probably going to move up to a 30" monitor so want something a bit more powerful then my 6950 - eyeing a gtx670 if the benches look right. Or a 7950 ...

what do you think

not for single card setups

MSI afterburner is mostly recommended and it works with AMD and NV

pic quality is the same with both:confused::confused:

If you can wait, wait for next gen.

If you want to try nvidia; go ahead. You may find you like it etter. I persoanlly lean towards nvidia a little because i prefer NV CP to CCC

Both drivers have problems. Nvidia has paid-for developer optimization on console games whereas ATi gain the advantage in niche PC-only games.

Traditionally ATi has better image quality, especially during video playback.

I would say get another 6950 and do crossfire. I just came from that setup and it ran well, being good value for money too. I ran drivers 12.2 and 12.3 with little problems to report.

Wait until the final release(and probably patched and/or proper drivers are in place, the usual scenario from both teams) is out and installed in your rig, then decide if you need more grunt.

What's prettier imo, is the one your used too, much the same as most don't like changing control panels as some features they are used to are not present in the other CP.

In all the years ive used ati/amd ive only had one driver problem and that was with bulletstorm, for some reason the was a diaganal line on the screen in bright area but that got sorted with newer drivers, shame it was about a month after i finnished the game

PanMaster

Really?

Can you back these claims up?

Lets see the niche pc games you talk of and image is subjective.

Stalker/Metro 2033, Anno 2070, Total War Shogun II and Egosofts X3 series although getting reliable data for X3 is very difficult as it's CPU limited. Hardly any official reviews test these games. I wonder why.

Well guys, AMD is reforming their driver divisions, and making up a new timeline for releases.

Just be patient. 5 series and up will get all the attention it needs very soon.

Yet again, you hand pick some titles for the results you require.

I just did a quick search for random pc titles and I can come up with with titles the 680 comes out on top try looking around the sim forums, DCS A10 etc. To tired to look but how do they compare at FSX?

The point is both Nvidias and AMD's top cards come out on top in certain titles, If we want to cherry pick results. This is of course in regards to pc only games.
