The issue isn't that none of the companies have any records of him or his account. It's that nobody has a record of the gas meter, as it's not in the system, ie as far as Transco are concerned he's not even connected to the gas mains.
Call British Gas and get them to set up a MPRN.
You're using gas so you should be paying for it, like everyone else.
Did you follow the instruction that the MPRN hotline gave you?so I phone the MPRN hotline, and they tell me this address doesn't have one, but go ahead and call any supplier and they can set one up for you....

British Gas asked ME, to get the MPRN number for them, they can't do anything without this number.
The british gas man is phoning me back next week so I will be honest and tell him theres nothing more I can do and he may have to speak to his manager and sort it out their end.
Are there no previous bills hanging around to occupier as this will have the number on. Otherwise it may have been going on for a while so enjoy your free gas.

You quoted the same sentence that I did. Have you phoned a supplier since the MPRN helpline gave you that instruction? You have not thus far indicated that you have done.

Hello people, il try to keep this brief but im interested to know if anyone else has been in this situation before.
I moved into a flat in Feb, (one building with 7 flats in it)
I hadn't received anything from any utility companies so I ask the estate agent who its with, he tells me southern electric. So I thought, well I was with British gas last time Il stick with them, so I try to swap it over, when I give the guy on the phone the meter serial number he says it doesn't show up on the system and he needs a 'Gas Meter Point Reference Number' so I phone the MPRN hotline, and they tell me this address doesn't have one, but go ahead and call any supplier and they can set one up for you....
"urrrrm, they told me to phone you" she basically repeated herself.
So I contact southern electric, and find out they are not even supplying gas to this property..... uh wut?
Contact estate agent again, he gives me the meter serial numbergreat chuffing help.
So does anyone have any idea what is going on?
Don't follow it up any more. Free gas forever.
