Looking for a new phone

Basically just used for texting/skype/watching the odd movie.

I have absolutely no idea what kind of phone would be useful for that :P

Any suggestions? (will most likely be being it unlocked/payg as i'll be using skype/movie over networks)

Thanks :)

£200?, if not could stretch

Just depends on phone, don't want to spend £200 on a phone that runs the movies poorly when I could spend a bit more and get one that plays it perfectly.

Well, in a couple of weeks the Samsung Galaxy S II SIM-free prices should drop a little bit as the Galaxy S III out.

The S II will do everything you want perfectly, it's a good all round phone. You should be able to get one for around £250. I can't think of anything better for your uses.

The Nokia Lumia 710 is £120-150, however, I'm not sure how it would handle movies and the like, it depends on formats etc.

I have the HTC One V. Great phone that looks and feels great. I've played a few HQ YouTube clips with no issues. Of course no front facing camera but I got an iPhone 4S for that.

The only issue I have with it is that it's a bit slow when you have a few apps up due to the single core 1Ghz processor and 512MB RAM. But I can't think of any other phones around that price range that compete with it. If you got any old phones lying around, trade them in! I was able to get £70 for my HTC Hero and Blackberry 9300.

On the One V, I'd deffo but stock android on it. Get rid of Sense make it twice as quick.

Used spotify/skype with it by any chance? :P

Having another look

Anyone got the HTC One S?

Thinking of getting it, three does £370 for PAYG atm.

Anyone got experience with it on skype/netflix/spotify/etc? :P

My one worry with the One S ^ is it's 16GB Memory...

I'd like to have Skype, Netflix, Spotify, various other apps and possibly some games is this likely to fill the memory fast or?

Thanks.

I got the one S and it is a great mobile especially if you don't want to faff about with rooting and custom ROMs.

Great speed/smoothness, battery life and nicely polished software.

As for your uses, pretty much any of the top end handsets like the GS 2 etc. will be perfect for that usage. I haven't used any of the apps myself though :p

As for the 16GB memory, it is partitioned, you have about 10GB of storage for photos, videos, music files etc. and about 2GB for apps, you also get 25GB of dropbox storage for the next 2 years.

I have 63 apps on my mobile and they are consuming 366MB of 2.21GB (granted not got a lot of games though, but still should be enough for quite a few :p)

ah

Gonna order the HTC One S with Three on PAYG for £370

Thanks again :P

Any idea how the three addons work, for example do I pay £10 at the start of the month for 3k texts etc, or is it more of a if i top up £10 I get those?

(i.e. am I paying for them or are they benefits of topping up?)
