Guild Wars 2

Im finding it ok as engineer but engineers are really underpowered, maybe I need to just find a better weapon, but it's pretty lame at killing anything!

How much is the XP Boost through the Commerce Store, by the way? I haven't heard about it. I was under the impression that the only benefits of the micro-transactions would be purely cosmestic. That really sours my impression if you can simply buy an XP boost. May as well go play Tribes, ffs.

The XP and magic find boosts are also available in game, I know because I found one.

You really just like to whine about every little thing possible don't you? I can't believe you actually played the first game anymore.

The cash store gems can also be bought off other players.

You can't believe I played the first game? Why? Because I'm not in awe at the second one just by virtue of the fact it's a sequel? Which seems to be your schtick, equally ad nauseum. Please, let's not get into this avenue of discussion again...

So long as the XP boosts are available in-game without cash transactions. I'm not sure what I think of cash-store gems being tradeable with players for in-game currency. That basically sets up a system whereby a player can afford any in-game item if he has the real-world wallet to lump for it. It seems to go somewhat beyond the earlier reports of the store being a 'cosmetic' store for harmless decorations.

I also have 2 of each of the XP and Magic Find consumables.

Everything that can be bought with gems can be acquired without paying any real money.

It's almost like you want the game to be bad and if that is the case you could have saved yourself a lot of money. ;)

Glass half full or half empty. I've enjoyed most of the MMOs I have tried with the exception of WoW and WAR and even then I saw some great mechanisms in play - just weren't my kind of game. But Arenanet have been quite upfront about what direction they are heading with this game.

Yeah I can't log in either. The game just randomly went to the log in screen with no error or anything while playing. Oh well.

Played the Elementalist, Guardian and Warrior so far. The Ele I found a tad boring with its ranged attacks (got to lvl 5) but I will give it another go and try the daggers. The Guardian is my favourite so far. I have leveled up to 10 with that character and am around Beetletun. While I played monk a lot in the original gw I much prefer playing a melee character in gw2. It seems more active.

I was ****ed when I made a ranger and didn't start with a bow :(. The Warrior is ok so far, only have the sword and not that much different to the Guardian but with more damage skills on the second weapon instead of support.

Loving the game so far, when it works.

Which is at least open as it is in Eve - got enough real life cash and you can buy yourself a Corp. But you only have to go onto PlayerAuctions.com to see anyone with real world cash can buy what they want in any MMO game. At least this time the developer can make money from it and reinvest it in the game.

If it supports high-level PvP, I won't give up on it :)

At the moment though with the FOV of 50 and the terrible keybinds, it's hard to really get any idea of how much potential the game has.

It's 2012. I just expect a game that can at least keep basic standards of support for PC gaming - not to regress backwards into console video dimensions. That's all. I don't know why you take such umbrage to that.

What all this gem talk?
Started a necro last night but seems all my attacks atm are melee :/

Anyone else playin a necro that did in GW1?
Opinions on teh class please

Necro is pretty tedious till you get to level 6, then go get a new weapon, the staff for example then start learning your new skills.
You also need to pick up any skill points available around that time to equip more abilities

Im level 7 and I can say 1-5 was hard work, I nearly quit and re rolled but it seems to be improving now.

the HoM calculator doesnt load

Guild wars 1 login is really slow

Guild wars 2 impossible to login

Their whole infrastructure has gone to pot :( lol

Cash store gems being tradeable for in game gems means two things:

1) The game is 100% free to play. If you want cash store stuff, you can use in game currency to buy them off people who can afford to buy and sell them.

2) Death to gold seller bots / websites. Want to make some in game currency fast? Buy gems and sell them. The money paid goes back into the game rather than to supporting hackers and bots.

You get everything you need equipment and stat wise spoon fed to you in this game. The cash store is ultimately meaningless, you can just ignore it completely, never use it, and still have no problems or disadvantages in the game.

I actually think the fov is fine. Although I think it may be based on what resolution your playing at too. More resolution, the more you can see.

The one thing I really want that was in gw1 is custom interface. I cant stand the chat being so low, I never read the thing or see any messages and the map is way to small as well.

One of the very few things to annoy me with the game so far is the distance you can zoom out from your character, i feel like im squashed in too close to it. Used to play GW1 with the camera zoomed away as far as possible so i could see what was going on easier.
