Did you get any discount from advertised prices?

I've seen an incredible deal on 3 which I can get £100 cash back on so it works out at £49 phone, and 31 a month over 2 years with ultd data, texts and 2000 minutes... I'm wondering if they will get close to this?

As I understand I'm a tier 5 customer, so if discount is to be had I should be eligible ...

Bizarrely I managed to get prices for a Lumea 800 last month, but now I. Told I can't get any prices until Sunday when im eligible ... Annoying !

Orange don't grade customers by number tier, give me a figure you spend per month and i'll give you your likely options :)

I get the impression from your reply that you might work for Orange... ;)

Odd reply though, the guy in the Orange shop last weekend showed me the book they use to calculate what deal you can get. It had Tier 1-5 at the top of the page, with varying deals based on which tier you were in. After loading up my account on his pc, he told me I was Tier 5 ....

It looked like an incredibly complicated system looking at the rest of the sheet for it to be something just for that store, and I'd be gobsmacked if each store could work independently to sort out each deal... or is that how it works?!

I've got 2 contracts with Orange in my name, the one I'm at early upgrade for tomorrow is:

Dolphin 25 (Not Blackberry) 24 month, last 4 bills are 46.51, 33.56, 59.30, 45.66 (46.26 av)

the other is a Blackberry for my Wife:

Dolphin 40 (24 month) - last 4 bills are 42.02, 42.48, 42.32, 40.00 (41.70 average)

The details above are pulled straight from my login for orange... put the blackberry contract on also incase it makes a difference to my likely deal!

Orange shop works 1-5 tier

Orange direct works on a point basis (not to confused with your spend per month)

All apple products are exempt from loyalty discounts to be added at point of upgrade, but you may keep them if from a past contact*.

*There are loads of conditions that apply to the above which i cant go into for company Confidentiality reasons but thats the general jib;)

EDIT: The one that due on the 29th make sure you do it, there is a big change on way come may 1st just make sure you done your early one before

Thanks for clarifying regarding the points and tier lark, much appreciated.

I plan to call up in the morning and get a deal then....

I'm not sure if you saw my other thread regarding this a while back, but I was offered an incredible deal on a Lumia 800, which was SIGNIFICANTLY better than what is advertised online. I'll give them a call in the morning and get them to price that one up again and use that as a point of negotiation.

I'd imagine if I'm a tier 5, and my monthly spend on both phones is consistently over the monthly contract cost, my point settings should still stand me a chance of something?

yeah non iphone you should be ok points wise, the reason the nokia deal was so good was because nokia were in the call centerer giving big incentives to the operators for pushing the lumia so you will have the PC thrown at you lol

Yesterday LG were in, happens once every month or so to keep the operators interested ;)

Cheers for the tip.

Take this the right way... is there a good time to call tomorrow to get a UK call centre? or will I get routed overseas whenever I call?

As i understand it OP Apple demand such a cut that the networks have very limited room if any to maneuver on contract deals.

I am in the same boat as the OP. Due an upgrade but the £160 back from Quidco for the 'One Plan' 4s is a deal that Orange will never beat. They are just behind the times when it comes to pricing at most importantly Data.

Ill be calling up to pay my final two months off and jumping ship to Three tomorrow. Am i correct in thinking they work out the time left on my contract, then subtract vat, then a bonus (depending on monthly cost) is deducted.

If only that blasted Padfone would be released. At 650ish euro for the whole package, should be able to get a connected deal with about £150 cash upfront, now thats worth waiting for.

Just been getting some data to have to hand when I call up.

I doubt Orange are going to be able to get close even to what T-Mobile are offering on a 4S at the moment (irrespective of the threads on mobile speed throttling)

Ultd Texts, Calls, Internet
£29x24 £46 Upfront
£50.50 cashback from Top Cashback

Total cost over 24 mnths £742
Average £30.92

Total cost over 24 mnths inc cashback £691.50
Average £28.81

Are orange going to offer some better tarrifs soon!?

Any bonus/loyalty discounts will not be added for a customer to disconect. so it just contract, then subtract vat roughly

Nope :(

right, called orange, and nipped into the local store incase anything was moving there.

No deal on the 4S to speak of, and mention of the other deals out there was met with 'we can do those tarrifs, but its £20 a month more'. I don't think so !

Based on that I asked about the Lumia 800 or One X, both were shockingly bad deals (the one I was offered last month with the Lumia was a one off promotion and won't be run again apparently?!)

I've decided to call up and get my PAC code and go somewhere else. Going to look at all the other networks deals on an iphone 4s 16gb and get one ordered.

Bye bye Orange !

Just to bring closure, Iphone4S ordered on 3 through the one plan, and pac code now in my hands from Orange.

Even retentions said 'its insane we cant get close to these prices, management just aren't interested at the customers we are losing.

I think the shame is 5 years ago the networks would try to keep you, now they just don't care.

I remember, probably 2004-2007 ish when I was with Vodafone, bang on 12 months I'd get a phonecall offering me more minutes, texts, less to pay each time and absolutely any phone I wanted for free etc etc

Skip forward to now, Orange offer pretty much the worst tarrifs at the highest cost and don't budge on them.

I guess Everything Everywhere have made their mind up that Orange will go to the dogs and T-mobile will reap the benefits of the combined network

Three will possibly make less money on you than a PAYG customer for year 1/2 though (SAC+cashback) with you, if they are willing to do that to grow share then there's only so much it's worth competing with in all honesty. It's a 20 Million customer game, the higher ups take the very big picture I'm afraid.

While your last sentence amuses me in part, you have to understand that in customer base Orange is the very large fish compared to T-M in nearly every metric. They also aim at different market segments, nothing too wrong with that...or do they want to collapse to a single brand? Sorry for the tier mis-understanding, I'm not allowed near customers all that often and shops even less so.
