**GTX 690 @ OcUK!!**

I do have one question to ask tho Gibbo seeing as this is the Flagship one if it is then is MSI Gainward and KAF2 and all the others making a version of it or is it just a exsclsive one to Nividia and OCuk? And is is going to be End of May when we actually see them in or will they be here on the 3rd of May So at least some of us can sort some brass out if we decicide to get one as i know quite a lot of us have forked out some mighty summs of Money 680 2gbs and 4gbs

WoW quick edit there could be a chance then that nividia might hold back then on sending these GTX 690s out if they are attending that show see and seeing as it got 6gb for the AMD one makes like the Mal_X said be a intresting fight if i was nividia i call them back or rethink about adding more VRAM so the compatition quite intresting

so which will be the best card !!!

I think like the 7970/680 debate the differences may be minimal, it may even come down to determining the 'better' card by price. But it depends how AMD price it I suppose :o

Looking back at the last gen a pair of 6970's were cheaper than and out performed a single 6990, similar thing for the 590, a pair of 570's were cheaper than and had performance just about on par if not better.

This time round Nvidia are offering near stock 680 SLI performance for less than a pair of 680's. So its going to be interesting to see if AMD follow suit and offer 7970 x2 performance for less than the price of 2 7970's.

But I guess we shouldn't pass judgement until we see some performance reviews from someone other than Nvidia.

Well you cant really say that about Nividia's GTX 690 as there is some more reviews out on it as such so there is food for thought out there

I think it be worth while some of you looking at this the price could be slightly higher than Gibbo had said but i not converted $1000 but gives a better look at the card on here http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/geforce-gtx-690-gk104,review-32433-2.html

Thats a good read thanks, I'll hold my hands up and say I didn't even look for reviews. Was under the assumption that there wouldn't be any up for another day or so :)

Though I still don't see any solid benchmarks from independent reviewers? I will keep looking.

@Gibbo, will you guys be putting up some of your own benchmarks as you did with the 7970 & 680?

WELL, i suppose it's safe to get a 7970 Lightning then

simply because the only other card worth having is twice as much and i just dont need that power yet

Has he taken in account of overclocking aswell with the 750ws or and if that is the case tho and thats just 1 card not SLI its going to push it over the 1k mark if he not overclocked + it depends on what you got installed in your rigs aswell so i some case might see if over 12k

750W to power your whole system and a 690.

What are you going on about with regards to 12k?

Ok lets start over u said 750w for whole system with just 1 690?

So what i was saying is its going to go close to or over 12k if you SLI 2 x 690s or even if you have 3 of them and was saying that it would be close to that limit even if overclocked and overclock might shove it over that.

And what link are you Refering to about a CPU cooler  Varkanoid?

You mean 1.2K right?

yeh i did 1.2k sorry trying to see what i can find out about this GTX 690 so go loads of pages flying open to see if there is any difference casue Nividia have only compared the 690 to there Own 680 no one else so trying to find some benchmarks of others to compare to there GTX 690 or proving to be hard to find benchmarks of 4GBs one anyway...

two 690s would be 1500 Watts......flipping heck

this would probably overheat your cooler above, you would certainly have to take great care over your cooling

Well high than 1500ws really if you overclocked your CPU + Ram + if you chose to overclock the 690s in Sli i would say you looking at 1800watts.. but would go with 2000watts to be on the safe side

If people dont thinmk they got the cooling for it there is a new case by Aerocool thats takes up to 18 fans! if i remeber right they do a 20 one also but not 100% on that one

He was referring to Cleeecooo's post here...

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=21793420&postcount=30

...in which he mistakenly cut'n'paste the HSF link instead of the 690 page.

See what you've done Cleeecooo? You've caused at least 4 off topic posts now (including mine) :D

sorry! xD

RE powering these:
2x690 = 750w

So for 2 of them and a system you'd be looking at 1kw minimum, probably 1.2kw

Man I thought my 5970 was expensive when I bought it, sod paying that amount for a gfx card. My 5970 will tide me over till the GK110 comes out.

Nice looking card though.

What was the price you expsecting it to be £600? The Flagship part gives it away, and if you think thats expensive will be intresting to see EVGA 690 if they do one price tag wise not even looking on there site for it as the makes me go cold.
