Did you do anything to comfort your self

I thought this thread was going to be about masturbation......

it is.....

When I was a kid I used to imagine my bed was the cockpit

I had a light up plug that I used until I was about 14.

When I was 14
I grew some balls

I had to look left and right a few times when I was laying in bed
kick the bed clothes off myself
Masturbate !

I was one of those kids who spent nights in terror, hiding under the covers even though it got so unbearably hot and the air got so thin it was too uncomfortable to just fall asleep, spending ages trying to pluck up the courage to make an airhole to breathe through or poke my head out. I had vivid nightmares that I still remember to this day, and for some odd reason felt it necessary to stare into the dark corners of my room to see what I could 'see' hiding there.

I don't think I ever managed to comfort myself TBH, especially not after seeing films such as Watership Down, When the Wind Blows, The Shining, Poltergeist and some of Bram Stoker's Dracula at far too young an age. I distinctly remember not being allowed the light on, despite bricking myself for quite some time afterwards. :(

I'm pretty similar, I had terrible re-occuring nightmares and waking dreams as a kid up until my teens and throughout that time I either spent hours standing out on the landing petrified - sometimes all night until my parents would get up for work  or hiding under my cover lol.

Even now I've got to be honest, I'm not keen on the dark in my house.
It's much more rare but I will wake up occasionally disoriented and feel an impending sense of doom, and the light has to go on, greatly annoying the Mrs. I can't sleep if I don't have the cover pulled up so I can't see the room, just becone a habit since I was about 4/5.

Just as a head-up, there is a ghost waiting for you in the reflection of your bathroom mirror. Wouldn't look in it tonight if I were you!

Brilliant!

I remember first coming to terms with my mortality as a child. I was around 12 years old. There was a moment, an extremely deep, cold, sombre truth set in and I no longer felt so young... My eyes, though closed, diffused a dull ache into my stark, frozen face. There is only chance. I had problems sleeping, and every night before I drifted, the universe and life's complexity and delicacy would keep me awake. I dwell and I pondered, and eventually... My comfort was sleep.

....not after seeing films such as Watership Down, When the Wind Blows etc....

At least you didn't see Plague Dogs :(

Not really any habbits here, couldn't leave the door open to sleep though, feels wrong. I'm an extremely light sleeper so I know that anything would wake me up, so I certainly don't need to set anything up to 'alert' me. Absolute curse though, wish I could sleep through noise :(

Wait a minute, I wasnt such a double-hard ******* after all.
There was a film/series that did me over good and proper for a while.
The legend of bogey creek. Didn't like the dark too much after that for quite a while! :o
